Navcore 8.562 SE vs. 8.545 SE for TomTom ONE XL with SD slot and ONE 3rd 1GB
TomTom ONE XL
I have tested two navcores: 8.562 SE and 8.545 SE on the TomTom One XL 1 GB RAM with SD slot (model 4S00.000). For both variants, the bootloader 5.5120 was used. The map was the same for both tests.
8.562 – works from internal memory and from the SDHC. Free memory is 7…8 MB (without Loquendo). Navigation works properly, no lags. In the situation when SD card is taken out and put in again, TomTom starts with drums. But it cannot start again (after turned off) and requires reset by paper clip. It is important in the case of TomTom mounting on the car front glass, because SD card could be removed accidentally during manipulations.
8.545 – works from internal memory and from the SDHC. Free memory is 8…10 MB, up to 10,5MB (without Loquendo). Navigation works properly, no lags. No need to use paper clip when SD card is out and in. When it happens, the power button shall be pressed 2-3 seconds longer, and then TomTom starts with drums.
If ONE XL has empty slot (or no SD slot), no reset is required for 8.562. Bootloader 5.5128 also works properly. Recommended SDHC cards Class 10.
ONE 3rd
It was model ONE 3rd Edition (1GB) no: 4N01.002.2, no SD slot. No Loquendo, but several POI warnings were active. The map was the same for both tests. Clear Flash tool was used for both Navcores to eliminate eventual resident portion of old software.
It was revealed that for both Navcores the free RAM was on the same level 6,5...7,5 MB. No lags or delays. Amount of free memory does not depend on the bootloader (tested with BLs: 5.5022, 5.5120, 5.5128, 5.5136).jtbili Reviewed by jtbili on .
