One XL problems ..
Hi
trying to sort out a mates One XL, it's running OS 8.010 and I've put map Europe_1GB_West_930_5601 on it, activated it and it runs absolutely fine through home, as i've done the frig to favourites and deleted the "previous destinations", and done the map share updates .. so all looks good on the PC ... but when I go to use it "normaly" it says "you canot use this map" ??? something I've not experienced with by GO700 ...Entwood Reviewed by Entwood on . Can you help Big Dave with my problem?
My bif file is:
[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom ROME
DeviceVersionHW=ROME
DeviceSerialNumber=RB***
DeviceUniqueID=AK*** B2***
RamDiskVersion=20040301
BootLoaderVersion=10012
LinuxVersion=1000
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8014
ApplicationVersion=9372
UserLanguage=English UK
UserName=***
Now the Rome got there as I used TTHome to install what it said I needed for my TT XL(30Series)/330-1GB
The current map of 875.3624 is reading ok. However I have included two other later maps and even though they are showing ok in fast activate as patched and the navcore patched they do not show up to "change to" in switch maps. They are 925_5412 and 930_5611. These maps work ok on my TT One.
I have tried a few other navcores and they work ok but very slow and can't get the Comp Voices to work with this current one.
As it stands it goes very fast but the 900 maps won't work.
That bootloader seems very high compared to other navcores I have tried and maybe is the problem.
Or else the navcore cannot handle these new maps.
Your comments would be appreciated TNX
The two 900 maps are for Android and work ok with other navcores so maybe this is the problem....
I assume the Navcore from TT is 9372??? never seen that one before

The problem is that a One XL only has 32MB of RAM which is not enough to run such fully featured maps such as 925.5412 (with ALG etc).
You have 2 choices to fix this situation:
1. download a less featured map that was designed to run on such limited RAM devices such as 925.5439, 925.5440, 930.5564, 930.5601
2. install a modified navcore that has an additional swap file built in like '9.510 with swap' or similar '9.530'.....either of those will allow you to run fully featured maps

One other quick question, have been using nav 9450 by downunder with good success but is very slow. Would these others you mention be better.?
Maybe I had best try them rather than expect you to suggest one nav over another.
Appreciate your reply and will see how we go.

There's nothing wrong with downunders files at all but your device will be slow due to the limited RAM. This is why I suggest you try NC 9.510 with 'swap file' which will speed things up for you.
I've done this myself on several One XL's and never had a problem with any of them, they work fluidly and can run the latest fully featured maps so I recommend you try it but obviously backup your files first just in case.
I've uploaded the NC 9.510 with swap for you
Let us know how you get on
