Planning multidrops
Credit to downunder35:-
We all found postings like:
"I'm a delivery guy and need to find the best route on my TT or Garmin"
At least for the high end models Garmin offers such features now but for us, the poor normal guys it is hard to impossible.
For a while I experimented with spread sheets and Google maps to get the optimisation over the coordinates, but as you guess the crow does not fly like you drive a car
There are several solutions on the market that offer "perfect" routes but they are either costly or can nothing more than calculate a nice round trip.
Asking around I was always directed to Tyre, a program that plans routes on the PC and trnsfers them to your GPS, but only the professional version offers routes suitable for, let's say a delivery guy.
Usually you don't have to plan the route on the go, so a software for the PC would be ideal if Google or OPSM would be included.
Transfering the route or creating of suitable files for your device is a must.
Again I was stuck finding anything to work for free, is available with "medicine" or easy to use.
But the search is over and everyone that has to plan multistop routes or deliver a lot of stuff can plan the trip and transfer the route to the TT or Garmin.
Check the website.
Simply use the bulk entry to list your addresses, start first, finish last,
click on "Add list of locations" - important!!!
and now either click on the roundtrip or the A-Z trip to get an optimized route.
You can export the trip to view in Google maps, optimal address order, or export for Garmin and TT - apart from a few other options that are not so relevant.biggerdave Reviewed by biggerdave on . Re: Planning multidrops
That was the best thing available on Autoroute when I was hitting up to 20 bank branches a day. No I was not robbing them!!!!
It is a lot easier than using itinery, but can make itinery a lot better for regular multidrops.

Re: Planning multidrops
Seems if you have many of way-points to optimize - try to model/optimize them with google-maps, then take screenshot and build itinerary on device

most people have iphones these days I use a app called route 4 me. You just put all your destinations in and it gives you the best route. I then just input them one by one into my tomtom

it is much the same on the android too. automatically sorts them. TT provide the maps for google maps and they both have the same errors. TT route planning is better algorithym than google. I always found navteq to be better maps, but terrible routing, and teleatlas terrible maps but better routing
I am curious to see if the Audi GPS system is any good and worth the price. Any comments appreciated, but will probably select TT for android as the traffic option is superb. Even works in countries that they do not mention. I use in Bucuresti, Romania and it is faultless. I cannot praise enough how much time it has saved me over there. Like any capital, it suffers terrible traffic jams and I drive through city with hardly a jam ever - same in London, Manchester etc. May have been unlucky in Austria, but did not get traffic there going or coming back from England
