TTHome trying to force a navcore update?
For those who use TTHome and SE navcores you will probably find that TTHome keeps trying to force you to take the latest official navcore for your device.
There are 2 ways of avoiding this. (see post 5 for alternative #3 too)
1. Fool the TT server into believing you already have the current TTHome installed
To do this this you need to instal an older TTHome version that does not force navcore updates and trick it into thinking it's already the current version.
Install a previous version of TTHome - anything prior to 2.8.1.2218 will do. I recommend 2.8.0.2146 (direct link below) which is the last version just prior to the "nasty" ones.
After running the *.exe to install the version of TTHome, do NOT run it.
Navigate to: C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul
Using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor, edit the file in xul called application.ini as follows:
In the line which reads 'Version=2.X.X.XXXX' (matching the version you have just installed), modify the number to read '2.9.8.3722' (the current version).
When your old version of TTHome runs, the version text '2.9.8.3722' will be compared to the most recently available version, and no update to TTHome will be offered (as it thinks it's already the latest version).
This will continue to work until the next version of TTHome is released. At that time you will need to follow this procedure again so just keep an eye out round here and note the new version number.
Direct download link for 2.8.0.2146 (the version just prior to the "nasty" ones) is:
If you're running Windows 7 premium see post #6 & replies below

2. Fool TTHome into believing you already have the latest navcore installed (example below is to fool it to believe you have the latest 9.430 navcore installed
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1
Save this change by clicking "File" in the upper left corner of windows explorer, then "Save as" ttgo.bak. At this point, there is only a ttgo.bak file in the root, no ttgo.bif.
Disconnect & reboot. Now you will have a ttgo.bak, a ttgo.bif & a ttgo.ori file in the root & no TT Home upgrade to Navcore 9.510biggerdave Reviewed by biggerdave on .
