Navcore is installed normally and GPSfix with maps, only patches are not installed

I tried it on three different computers, the same error when installing the patch

I have a second similar navigator start 25, patches all work on it, it's not about the computer.

    Hello all,

Whatever I do, I am not able to make TTActivator work on my device.

I have been carefully appying the instructions on page 1, I have read the whole 38 pages of this thread, tried some suggestions like downloading nav3_sayville maps insted of pure nav3, installing 3 maps, full reboots with the drums sound after each step, deleting safety cameras, nothing seems to work. I always end up with a "You cannot use this map on this device" message... I have tried to install NZ and Benelux maps both in internal memory and on the SD card (Europe v890 came with the device and is already installed)

    More about my setup:
    - Device: Tomtom Via 125 (BN) with App 12.075.3065980.74. 4GB internal memory + 16GB SD card
    - PC: I am using the latest TTActivartor as of this writing (1.20) under Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Two things I have noticed that may point experts to the problem:
    - after each transfer/update from the PC to the TT, I briefly get an error message on the TT that something went wrong with the transfer, but it disappears quickly and a reboot takes place as normally expected. TTActivator displays no sign of error and says the update was successful.
    - regardless of what I install or uninstall on the TT, TTActivator does not show any changes. I would expect to see the newly installed maps under "Installed Content". Likewise, there is not hint that the patch is installed or not, I would have expected that either button "Uninstall Patch" or "Install Patch" be greyed out depending on the situation.

Many thanks in adance for your help!

I also own a Via 125 if I remember correctly as a test model and have also had some problems during installation.
I then started TomTom Mydrive and started Via in the black screen, holding on/off until the black screen appeared.
When you can read all the information, press the on/off key three times in succession. The Via should start up in recovery mode and be restored via TomTom Mydrive.
If a new map is not spontaneously presented, continue with TTactivator.

    Hi pe1agp

Thank you for your quick reply!

I did what you suggested twice , but after pressing the on/off key three times, the Via just started normally. It does not seem to nbe in recovery mode and MyDrive just shows it as "connected"...

I expertly demolished a USB cable because Mydrive indicates that Via 135 has a very vulnerable USB input.
The contacts are no longer brand new.
Nevertheless, Mydrive carried out the renovation program and everything is as before.

After those contact problems I still managed, my serial number starts with BP and you have to press the on/off key very quickly.

    Hi pe1agp

The "very quickly" made the trick, thanks. I have now successfully restored my Via 125 and didn't lose the European and NZ maps (the Benelux one had been removed before). I'll try now to patch it and will let you know how it goes.

So, I am happy to finally report complete success! After successfully restoring my Via 125 thanks to pe1agp's help, I patched it again and started to download a v1115 map.

This is when I got a warning that "This map does not have a meta code and cannot be activated in TTActivator". I don't recall seeing this warning on my previous attempts to download maps (I guess I overlooked it) so I tried the previous version (1110) of the same map, for which the popup message fortunately said "Good news, TTActivator is able to activate this map". Long story short: downloded it, installed it on my SD, updated the meta, and guess what? It worked right away!

Just to be sure, I checked the Europe, Benelux and New Zealand maps I had tried to install previously, and all of them gave me the dreaded "... cannot be activated in TTActivator" warning. Doh!

So it is very likely that my Via 125 was successfully patched in the first place, but I couldn't see it as I was foolishly insisting on installing maps that could not be activated on it!

Anway, all is fine and dandy now, and I want to thank pe1agp again for his help, and all the developpers of TTActivator for a great tool that brings some life back into our old SatNavs.

A final tip for those who want to experiment with maps and are short on space or bandwitdth: the French Antilles map is much smaller that the NZ one, (only 4 MB) but the smallest is probably French Guyana (860kB).

I forgot to mention in my previous post that after I restored my Via 125, I still had brief error messages on the TT that something had gone wrong with the transfer while repatching and updating the meta (TTActivator was reporting successful transfers). So I guess these were false positives.
