    Default Calibration problem Go 720

    Grateful for any suggestions.
Go 720 has had a vertical calibration problem for years. Mostly corrected by placing a cal.txt file in the root folder after experimenting with different values for ymax and ymin. Even with this it was always difficult to get calibration right for items near the top of the screen. Left to right calibration has never been a problem.
Recently the unit has stopped reading and remembering any cal.txt file I put in the root. On the data screen it shows 82 928 144 867 regardless of any other figures I put in the cal.txt file. Worse still, the calibration is so bad it is impossible to select anything on the touchscreen. So the unit will start but I cannot do anything to make any selections. I have tried Clear Flash repeatedly but it doesn't help. I suspect there is a hardware problem but would be grateful for any ideas before I set it aside for possible parts.
    Thanks for any ideas.

Maybe a screen/digitiser failure (do a search around for similar)

Thanks, I've found a "how to" replace a digitiser pdf you posted years ago and a digitiser on eBay for £6.60. I still wonder why the TT cannot store and use new calibration data when I change the cal.txt file. But it's worth trying a new digitiser for only £6.60!
I will update here on the outcome when I've tried to fit it.

I can confirm too that calibration is working in very rare ocassions. We did and do hundreds of these touch replacements, tried before years this calibration on maybe 30 devices and works only on two, and from these two one client returned back after few weeks with same problem again... So after these experiences we did and do touch replacement direct, no callibration experiments. Touchscreen replacement is 100% sure way, price is small....

    "Back from the Dead!"
Happy to report the digitiser replacement has resurrected my Go 720. Needs delicate soldering as the solder points are close together. Don't even bother unless you have a slim solder tip and probably a solder station which controls the temperature. Also, not in the "how to do it" , the old digitiser and glass is glued to a slim metal frame and it needs to be separated as the frame is needed for the new digitiser. This also needs double sided adhesive tape to locate the new digitiser to the metal frame.
For anyone interested, the calibration was perfect as soon as I started the Go 720 (without any cal.txt or calib.txt files. Makes me think that all the calibration tips are probably temporary fixes for digitising screens which are on their way out anyway.
Many thanks to those who helped.
