I just wondered if anyone has successfully installed a later version Navcore on a TOMTOM XL model?

The XL I have has got NC version 8.06 installed which wil not accept some of the newer maps.
As a result I was considering installing NC version 9.501 which will work with the later maps, but wondered if anyone has updated the Navcore installed and having done so have they incurred any 'problems' after installing the later versions of the maps?
