"general" question about the software update possibility
Hello, I know that here still no solution for new units, but some like "idea" - at this moment we solve GO6200, where after map update software died. This is unfortunately a common problem. Navi is now with screen picture TomTom vs computer, and "broken" cable. TT have "rercovery mode" for these situation, but success rate of these is 1 recovered to 9 needs send to TT repair centre in Romania. If is under warranty then its free so okay. But if not, then TT wants 140€ service fee, for something which was created based on their error in its update. They does not allow any debate that the mistake is on the TomTom MyDrive software problem. All who works with TT navis knows very well, how worse is theirs support...
I managed one of units which we sent to repair with with "invisible" glued 2 hairs, and the unit after returned with untouched these hairs, so I am 99,9% sure that device was not opened, I think recovery was did by USB (or SD??) only. My question is - if the pepple who created these great tools for NAV3 devices, can do a same software for this cases? To have possibility manually reinstall the firmware. These navis have lifetime so no hacking in this sense, no map cracking needed, only possibility to load firmware from web again and save to device.Steve25 Reviewed by Steve25 on .
