I Agree with fr52.
I am using both. Actually Garmin is a lot better in some things and lacking on others.
I prefer the ease of putting in a location
The notifications of Garmin are better, but if not reduced it is too much, but TT is poor on that in that they have less notifications
Garmin seems to know more places when an address is looked for over TT
Regarding the maps, both seems to be ok, but Garmin is easier in that it looks more like an A-Z and typing in a location is easier on Garmin
How the streets look. Well botht are good. I actually perfer the Garmin
So, it is looking like I am going on Garmin favour.
If I was a newbe, I may well.
So have the stuff at the level I need, TT is quite a lot more expencive. But I need LIVE traffle more than anything else
TT wins on that. Google and Garmin know the speed cams etc, but routes, and time to change..... TT wins that, so easily
Botton line is both are really great
If you need live traffic, then TT. If other, both are great.
If you poor, and need free updates of maps, speedcams and have old units, then TT is better. Otherwise, you pay what you can afford or need. Both TT and Garmin are greatOne day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

I hope that was not too biasest as I like both, but prefer TT
I should have added.
This is a forum. so you can find updates for maps, speedcams etc, so you really have quite a lot of choise. Indeed, you may want to use another unit...,See the comments though, before you bay anything
I have a GO5200. I like it, but I need it. You may be able to have a lesser unit that meets your needs with less things. And eBay can be quite cheapLast edited by the Maverick; 29th May 2019 at 02:21 AM.

fr i agree. i like both, but TT routes is ok and a lot better. but it is not pre-emptive. none are. So neither are good. TT is better and faster with re routing. my car gps (Vauxhall) and the Audi are really terrible and so are all other Manufacurers. Even those that use inbuilt TT are not so good, but better than those not using them. Google maps are good, but routing is terrible. TT is deff the best of all, but not perfect. Nothing is sadly. I will stick with my GO5500 and its 64GB card
I may see if 128GB will work. I has not before, but they have changed software/hardware and 64GB is ok now. Was not a few months agoOne day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

something to note. No good trying 125GB, it will not work, but 64GB is ok
I have all but one map on my unit, v1025 all say 4 months old (released 01/2019). I have 1.34 GB Internal Memory and 1.41 GB Memory card (It is 64GB) only map not on it is Europe South (3.54GB) and available space 1.14GB...All other maps are on
Will take ages to upgrade to v1030, but luckily I know traffic in advance for next week LOL so I can leave it aloneOne day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.
