I've worked with @Lecter from Digital-Eliteboard on a solution to use NC 7.903 on SiRFIII, which doesn't support suicide.dat. I think we found a solution to make SiRFIII devices work without suicide.dat. That should be interesting especially for users of Truck-NC 9.702 which didn't receive a WNRO fix.

What can an antediluvian 7.903 bring to 9.702?
Users of the Truck Card can only use the 9.702 Navcore. It works perfectly without modification on GO x20 / x30 and 7000 equipped with a SiRFStarIII chip. The only problem is the loss of satellites after a few days on a very few models.

And again: Please read correctly! It's not about using a current truck map on a stoneold NC 7.903. But possible solutions to make suicide.dat or weekly Satfix also unnecessary for x20/30/7000 truck-NC-users. That would be the best and simplest of all known solutions...Last edited by Alfred_ML; 6th June 2019 at 01:12 PM.

I think TomTom will re-release the 7.905 which should fix the problem of satfix on SiRF3, as they have done with 7.834 for Toyota car units.
If I understand correctly, SiRF3 with pre-9.541 need suicide.dat because they won't get satfix after standby. But 9.541 runs slow on many devices and its use is therefor discouraged. Let alone that Truck-NC will not receive an update.
If my idea works it should be possible to use the fixes in 9.541 and port them into the 9.702.
Has anyone actually ever tried to use 9.541 with the PNDNavigator from 9.702? Isn't the PNDNavigator ultimately responsible for which maps are accepted by the device?
Only I haven't really identified what the original fix includes. I made a 7.903 ttsystem with the kernel and sirfreset binary from 7.834 and adjusted scripts (rc, rc.suspend, rc.resume, rc.restartgps) according to 7.834. However, this alone seems not to be enough. So there must be some additional modifications which I couldn't identify yet. Only thing I can think of now is ttn/PNDNavigator.Last edited by treysis; 6th June 2019 at 03:17 PM.

I can remember that there is a difference in sirfreset AND the way rc.* calls it (one more parameter).
Btw the functions/menustructure is not only defined in PNDNavigator, but also in *.chk files.

@Charlie62
7.903 can bring the big compass maybe also more fluid interface than 9.702 but that's it I think
So has anybody tried truck PNDNavigator and relevant .chk-files on top of NC 9.541?Last edited by treysis; 6th June 2019 at 06:00 PM.
