GO 910 memory
Since coming across this site I've dug out my old satnav and was
wondering if it can be updated.
It is a Tomtom Go 910 Grey import with a bulit in harddrive without a SD card slot.
Does anyone know which Europe maps would run on this device?
Thank you.

Great "old" device indeed. With a bit of tweaking of the navcore you can add all/any maps (provided we have metas for them)
Take a deep breath and start a bit of searching/reading around the following sections;-

Thank you biggerdave,
I have been having a good read and decided to have a go..I mean what could go wrong
I now have navcore 9.510 and maps Europe 995_8507.
11.5MB ram free of 64MB.....Was always a little sluggish from start up.

Well done Stuart, NOW (although it may be "stating the bleedin' obvious") do a full Windows backup!

One of my devices is a GO 910 too, only it's not original anymore due to I've removed the 20GB HHD and replaced it with an SD card 32Gb Class 10
I'm using quite satisfied Navcore 9.510 for 64MB devices too.
Try to search the Internet for an SD slot, I bought mine somewhere in the UK, but they don't have them anymore, maybe on Ebay
By the way, this slot will fit sure in the frame, all frames GO 510, 710 and 910 are as far as I know all the same
These frames have an option to mount an SD slot as well an HDD.
There is one thing, the GO 910 will show up as a GO 710 due to the SD card
I found one at Ebay
Be sure, once the HDD will give you some read errors like mine did.
There is a great advantage too when you will update your device, just pull out the SD card and it's done into a few minutes, forget the slow USB transfer.
Another great advantage is you may have a spare SD card, or you're able to make another SD card with for instance the Truck version.
Great device, keep it running
Cheers
Aad

Thanks for all the info Aad,
Something worth considering. I had a look on ebay and can buy an old 510 or 710 cheaper than buying the upgraded parts new. Maybe something for the future.
Does having a Sd card instead of the hard drive stop the slow start up and improve the running?
Stuart.

Yes your device start more quickly, but most of the time is spend to find the satellites.
By the way, you're unable to change a Compact Flash easy and they are as far as I know more expencive when you want a realy BIG one.
Mine SDHC 32GB Class 10, I bought it for less than € 20 and don't forget you've still to update your device via the slow usb port.
Be carefull with these small connectors, they are broken into a split second.
You've to do some measurering where to make the gap to get the SDHC card in and out.

You don't have to buy a 510 or 710, the hard disk of the 910 can be replaced by Compact Flash or SD (with a suitable adapter). A flash-memory-drive is always faster than the build in hard disk.
P.S: Some older NC 9 better for the x10 than a NC 9.510. E.g. (SE) NC 9.134
