    Hi pyro2677,

I would not suggest manually tuning to a station. Leave this off so the system can auto scan and find a station broadcasting traffic. When it finds one, the traffic bar will appear...even when there is no active route. Traffic information on the traffic bar will appear when you have a planned route with traffic on it.

Are you on the outskirts of Brisbane, or in the city?

This is the Suna coverage area in Brisbane. when you drive out of the zone, the traffic bar would disappear.

We have determined it is the mctx.dat file the 'enables' RDSTMC in certain zones. The mctx.dat used in simbas post above was sourced from an old navcore (8.351.go530-go730-go930.CAB-navcore-GO) as old devices that run this navcore were listed as supported devices on the SUNA website). It certainly works in Sydney, and I believe another member has reported it working in Melbourne. I'm not sure about Brisbane.

Since simba compiled the above ttsystem, deadbeef has had a closer look at the mctx.dat file we used and determined that it is only enabled in 3 Australian States, (NSW/VIC/QLD). If this is true, installing this version of ttsystem should enable traffic as you are in QLD (provided you are in the supported zone).

Deadbeef also determined that there is an alternative traffic provider in Australia called HERE. Hard to know which service would be better. I'm guessing they would get there data from the same sources, and therefore would provide similar results. SUNA seems to have added some additional regional areas, and since its been around longer - I personally trust it more... But it's really hard to know if one would be better then the other.

Deadbeef has provided 3 variations of the mctx.dat for AUSTRALIA RDSTMC
    1) SUNA traffic enabled in all 8 states/territories
    2) HERE traffic enabled in all 8 states/territories
    3) SUNA and HERE traffic both enabled in all 8 states/territories

Note, tomtom can not pull traffic data from two sources simultaneously, so using option 3 would just mean it would use whatever radio station it finds first (regardless if it's broadcasting SUNA or HERE).

I have attempted to decompile the ttsystem and add the mctx.dat options above and recompile 3 different ttsystem files conserving all file permissions etc using Linux. I believe I have successfully achieved this, however have been hesitant to test. My system is already working perfectly where I am, and simba has more experience with working in Linux terminal - so I trust his version, not mine. I'm nervous if I made a mistake, my ttsystem might brick my tomtom!

The process is a little time consuming, but simba if you have time to make us new ttsystem files using the revised mctx.dat files provided by deadbeef, please let me know and I'll share the files with you.
poshea Reviewed by poshea on . Decryption key for encrypted RDS-TMC Hope its ok I open a new thread on this topic. I've learnt a bit more about TMC, and discovered that an encrypted signal may be locking people out not only in Australia, but other countries also. My situation is I own a 2013 Mazda CX5 that has a TomTom NB1 built into the dash. The NB1 includes a RDS/TMC receiver and the TomTom navcore (10.854) is able to use the traffic data received. So I was scratching my head as to why I had a car with TMC hardware and software, in a city that has a Rating: 5

It would be great if we could have option 3

Deadbeef has provided 3 variations of the mctx.dat for AUSTRALIA RDSTMC
    1) SUNA traffic enabled in all 8 states/territories
    2) HERE traffic enabled in all 8 states/territories
    3) SUNA and HERE traffic both enabled in all 8 states/territories

As I said previously my signal drops out frequently and there seems to be no signal in regional cities.
I am very grateful to get as far as we have and thanks to Simba for doing the work and Poshea for testing.

Finally installed my version of ttsystem combining simbas patched navcore with deadbeefs mctx (option 3). Installed perfectly on my mazda - all working and I'm still getting traffic here in Sydney. So this custom navcore should work with traffic in all Australia states/territories and will tune to either SUNA or HERE traffic data (whichever it finds first).

Enjoy. Please report back how it works for you.

You can combine your running NB1-Australia-Map with the PNA-Australia_966_7373 and activate this combination about the Australia-100736.meta from the PNA-map (delete the NB1_.meta and NB1_*.dct).
Leave all files and folders from the old NB1, who are not in the PNA-map. All others files take from the PNA-map

    Hi,
Apologies for the sideways leap I am about to take in the thread. In the UK, TMC should be freely available, but my NB1 cannot find it. It searches forever. Could it be that the original patched navcores from simba (10.854 and 10.855) don't come with the correct mctx.dat for Europe? I have extracted the file (7-zip!) and the file is only 188 bytes so can't have much data in it. I've no idea how to read the file as it is not a text file. Are there different files for different regions? If so, how do I check which I have? Thoughts would be appreciated.

    [edit]
Scrub that for a thought. I've found out that TTHome keeps backups of the cab file which contains ttsystem. The mctx.dat in simbas 10.855 is the same as the TTHome version in 10.854 (by comparing CRC's) which was a proper update from TT on the car's original SD.

The modified mctx.dat used in my version of 10.855 relates only to enabling TMC in Australia. Installing this version will have no affect in the UK.

I am not aware of how TMC works in the UK. In Australia, whilst it is freely broadcast on an FM station, Mazda had chosen not to pay the TMC provider licence fee and therefore it was disabled in the navcore (mctx.dat).

    From wiki:
The private company iTIS Holdings[64] provides a commercial TMC service iTMC in the United Kingdom. It is broadcast nationally on Classic FM and other commercial radio stations. The BBC charter prohibits it from carrying a commercial service. ITIS provides traffic data on RDS-TMC to major automotive companies (BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Ford, Renault, Jaguar Land Rover and others). The price of the service is included in the price of the car or navigation .

Based on this, seems plausible that TMC may be disabled in mctx if Mazda did not pay iTIS fee. I would contact deadbeef to see if he can look if iTIS is enabled or disabled in the mctx. He was not active on this forum, so I will PM you where you can find him...

Following a post I made on a similar thread on another forum, I've created a "master" mctx.dat which will enable all the known services that are natively supported by TomTom devices. In countries where there are more than 1 provider, the first FM station (and associated traffic service) that the navigation unit can tune into is selected.

    Enabled RDS-TMC providers:
    • Australia - HERE Traffic [VIC, ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, NT]
    • Australia - Intelematics (SUNA) [VIC, ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, NT]
    • Belgium - Be-Mobile
    • Canada - Total Traffic & Weather Network (iHeartRadio, formerly Clear Channel)
    • Croatia - TrafficNav
    • Finland - MediaMobile (V-Traffic), previously Destia
    • France - MediaMobile (V-Traffic)
    • France - ViaMichelin
    • Germany - HERE Traffic (DE), previously TMCPro
    • Hungary - TrafficNav
    • Ireland - TrafficNav
    • Italy - Infoblu
    • Luxembourg - Be-Mobile
    • Mexico - Total Traffic & Weather Network (iHeartRadio, formerly Clear Channel)
    • Netherlands - ANWB
    • Netherlands - Be-Mobile
    • Norway - MediaMobile (V-Traffic), previously Destia
    • Poland - MediaMobile (V-Traffic), previously Destia
    • Portugal - TrafficNav
    • Puerto Rico - Total Traffic & Weather Network (iHeartRadio, formerly Clear Channel)
    • Romania - TrafficNav
    • Slovenia - TrafficNav
    • South Africa - Altech Netstar
    • Sweden - MediaMobile (V-Traffic), previously Destia
    • UK - INRIX, previously ITIS
    • UK - TrafficMaster
    • USA - Total Traffic & Weather Network (iHeartRadio, formerly Clear Channel)

EDIT - 7th June 2019 - Added support for HERE Traffic in Australia with the correct decryption key - the one supplied by poshea/deadbeef is incorrect.

Hi everyone. This is a first to me, so I am pretty absorbing all info and try to learn something. I believe that for carminat the process should be more or less the same. The thing is how do I recompile ttsystem of carminat 8.843 patched navcore?
    Many thx
