Thanks Scwan, I will try these out later although everything seems to be working fine for me right now. Where did you get the USA Canada 945.6253 map from? That is the version TomTom Home 2 wanted me to update too but I couldn't find them anywhere on the internet.

So, I've tried Greatnloopy's method which didn't work for me. I would try and use voice navigation and when it went to calculate the route it froze. The method I just used is as follows and it's as close as I can get:

1) Create ttgo.bif file
2) Delete entire maps folder and replace with new one
*this step concerns me as obviously, some files that are in the old maps dir are not in the new maps dir
3) Copy over cracked navcore files
4) Fastactivate *update meta.txt
5) Fastactivate *patch maps

This gets things going however I still cannot use the voice command "drive to an address" as the system says the map version is not able to work with voice commands. That being said, I can use "drive to the nearest..." and it seems to work. Any ideas?

In Greatnloopy's method, I also wondered about something. When going into the maps folder and dealing with the file, why are we doing the replace adpoints with cspeech. Also, there is a USA_Canada...meta reference that I found but also a .meta.dcf reference. I deleted both and replaced with the new ones when I tried his method.

Thoughts and feedback appreciated, would love to get voice commands fully operational.

So, I decided to fiddle around and moved the EN and FR directories as well as the asrgramm... file from my old maps folder into the new one and now the "drive to an address" command does enable. That being said, when I try to search for an address, it is not being very accurate at all and is basically un-usable so I must still be missing something.

Any thoughts>

Happy to report that it is working! Used maps were Europe 940. Once again I have to thank @Simba for providing the patch and @Greatnloopy for writing the instructions. The thing that I didn't do the first 999 times I tried was not updating the tlv file and not removing the old .meta file.

It would appear that your right about the "Drive to an address..." Voice command. It works...sort of I didn't test the new maps thoroughly because I was excited that they worked at all. In addition to issue with the Voice Command for specific addresses. It would seem that routing is also just a bit wonky. Destinations on the wrong side of the street, slow rerouting, etc. So i'll look into it more. I do think that these problems have something to do with the map version. I know before downloading USA Canada 945.6174 that TomTom Home2 showed that the map I would get if I purchased an upgrade is 945.6253 which may specifically work better for the NB1. I'll try the files kindly posted above by Schwan and see if it fixes any issues. If they do then we know that only map version shown in TomTom Home should be used. I also figured out that the ".tlv" file in the maps folder is overwritten by the NB1 so modifying it is pointless.

Would you happen to have the complete USA Canada 945.6253 map? I will try the files you have provided but if you have to complete map that would be great.

OK so I've made some progress on figuring out how to make sure things work for our NB1. It would seem that using the android version of maps fixes the problems with "Drive to an address..." voice commands. Which makes sense I guess because the NB1 is android based. I tried using USA Canada 945.6256 Android maps on the my NB1 and all voice commands work as the should now, traffic (radio based) still works. I'll have to drive with them some more to make sure there aren't any other issues but it's a definite improvement over the other 945.6174 maps that made the "Drive to an address..." command virtually useless. Just make sure you keep the original "EN" and "FR" folders. As they contain the speech recognition stuff.

Try it and see if it works for you, I'll update my instructions if there is positive feedback from others.
