Go730 and USA_Canada_930.5563 map issue
I figured it would be a good idea to upgrade my Go730 from the USA_Canada_925_5412 map to USA_Canada_930_5563. The chart showed it was compatible with the device and the navcore (9.5xx).
I downloaded the map, the rar files gave no error when extracting the files. First surprise came when, after deleting the old map folder, there wasn't enough room to copy over the new map folder ( some 40 megs short).
I made room, copied over the map folder and got the latest version of FastActivate. After running FastActivate, my Go730 would not boot properly anymore. At first it displays the boot screen ( the bmp file) then the display goes dark and the power on LED turns off.
I have to press the reset button to be able to turn the device on again.
I was able to connect to my pc and restore the old map, and everything works fine again.
I have no clue what the problem is.

Did you think to buy a SD card (4GB-more and not necessary)? Then you will not think about the size of the map. And you're not going to delete files. And all of your suffering will end.

I can confirm that this map works without any issue at all on my 530, so I would follow the advice above and get a cheap 4GB SD card and put the map on there and just have the tomtom software on the internal memory.
That is how i've got my 530 setup and it works perfectly with the range of maps that I frequently use and it makes updating them very easy

Thanks for pointing me in the good direction. I was under the impression that 2GB was the max size for a card that could be used in the Go730. Probably last time I tried it it was true (bootloader version and whatnot). On the other hand, good luck finding a 4GB card in store .
So I got myself an 8 GB microSD card, put the map on it, activated it and all is good.
Thanks again !
