How do I stop home auto-updating ?? No matter which version, or what I put in preferences .. as soon as I open it, it does an update and ends up with the new one .. just gives me a "critical update" and if I choose cancel it shuts down completely ... going around in circles here ..

    I can't find application.ini .. ?? Win 7 here .

    EDIT .. Sorted

Eventually found the application.ini ... in the folder /xul ... changed the first digit of the version number from 2 to 3 .. saved and tried it .... all working nicely again...

Navigate to: C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul (or wherever it is)

Using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor, edit the file in xul called application.ini as follows:

In the line which reads 'Version=2.X.X.XXXX' (matching the version you have installed), modify the number to read '3.x.x.xxxx'

That way TTHome will already think you have latest version.

Hi biggerdave I want to avoid the forced Home update but there is no application.ini file on my Windows Vista PC on the path you quoted. Have you any idea why not? Is it possible just to create one if so can you quote what is in the folder.

It should be wherever the Prog is but maybe you need to run as admin or similar or "unhide" stuff?

Its there .. under version ..

    change the 2.9.2.2837 to read

    3.9.2.2837

    then click save

you obviously have your system set NOT to show the last 3 letters of a file ...

so the .ini is not shown .. and I'll bet when you look at documents they don't have .doc on the end either
