Couple of other points to consider, you can buy an RDS Receiver for virtually any TT for Traffic service but I don't think it's as efficient as the SIM card based version which the x40/x50's use

You can also clone/piggy-back Live services from one subscribed (x40/x50) device to any other x40 or x50 device. I have a 940 running Live Services cloned from my subscribed 550

Yes the RDS traffic is fine for many users, hower it differs from the SIM traffic. RDS uses the signal broadcast from the radio stations which is fine in many cases, but sometimes you can be in a jam as the broadcast can be slow being sent. So you might find that a jab is cleared alrady but the signal does not say it in real time.

One the other hand, the live traffice is obtained from TomTom via the Vodafone networks so can adjust live when mobile SIMs move from cell to cell and location from transmitters and receivers know this....e.g. your smartphone has location built into it- yes?
So tomtom is able to send this info to the units or smartphone live or within minutes, so it is better. Also you will note on many motorways and major roads, the sensors on the bridges also send information to units. My old Vectra had traffic info provided for a licence fee. Handy but not perfect

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, couldn't work out the right spot.

When patching Europe_990_8036 with latest FA (from The Maverick, this website) I get the error:
    "Incomplete Map(s): Europe-115706"

I have d/l the maps from three different sources (in the Maps thread, two multi file ones and one .rar - all being reliable sources with previous map versions) and consistently get the same error with all combinations of the three maps and using FA "raw" then options 9 followed by 1. No joy.
To have the same problem with maps from three different sources seems more than a coincidence. Anyone else had this problem? What is the solution?

I used to have this issue with multilink downloads from various sources (probably as Dave suggested it's the same "original" source) - never happened to Yuri's one file downloads though ...

    Hey Guys,

I just downloaded both Europe_970.7466 and Europe_970.7468 maps.
From the "compatible chart v970" I can see that 7466 is the most complete map, while 7468 lacks IQroutes + ALG and HNR.

However, the 7468 map is 2.89GB compared to 2.88GB for 7466.
It doesn't really make sense to me.
Could someone please explain why the "incomplete" map is actually bigger than the "complete" one?

I'm at work now and I can't post a comparison between the individual files, but I can do this later when I get home.

    Thank you all.

7468 is a NC 7/8 Low-Level-map and 7466 is a NC 9 High-Level-map. These NC9-High-Level-maps are smaller because higher compressed. Therefore these High-Level-maps need more CPU-Power and RAM to use. For this reason the NC9 and the High-level-maps are (by TomTom) only for 64MB devices.

Thank you for your answer Alfred_ML.

I only tested to see if the device opens and shows map and both maps worked.
I haven't tried them on the road (with an actual route) yet.

I own a Rider 2nd edition which only has a modest 32MB ram.
It seems to me that NC7.901 (original, downloaded by Home on an empty card) + 7468 is actually a little bit slower than NC9.500 + 7466.
This again doesn't make sense especially after you mentioned "only for 64MB devices".

The only difference I see in this case would be the SD card, which was different for each NC+ map. But the faster card (in my case) is a class 4 (or 6, can't remember exactly) and the slower one is a Sony 8GB class 10 (which at least in theory should be faster).

I'm new to this forum. Is there a hardware thread where I could ask about recommended SD card?

    Thank you.
