I think "biggerdave's" problem is that, he haven't updated continuously, you know the "button" .... << Turn on automatic update >> was for sure turned off

I do normally allow "normal" updates etc but was a bit concerned this time when it mentioned "Your version of Windows 10 is nearing the end of service" rather than just an "update" which I'm never concerned about. Either way, all done now & no dramas/crashes/cursing so all is good

If you want to stay on windows 10 and have security updates have a look at windows 10 enterprise iot 2021. It has support until 2032
