Apart from what Garmin_Nuvi said, I wanted to point out that a 64GB microSD card CANNOT be formatted in FAT32, but must be formatted in exFAT.
Garmin Devices (all) ONLY manage FAT32, so the maximum size of the microSD must be 32 GB (formatted in FAT32)

While a little unusual example it can be possible, I use a 128GB card formatted FAT32 in my RV770.
The advantage to me is that I can preload my typical 93+ GB of maps, the bulk are layered JNX 25K to 150K topo's and quite large however making changes on the road then becomes almost instantaneous.
I only offer less than 32GB of maps to the device relevant to the region I am in and the rest relax in a temp folder on the card. When I move to another region the card still needs to be connected to a laptop but the swapping of maps across the card is immediate as it's a simple directory update, no data has to be transferred out to the card. The secondary benefit is that the maps are always there, not lost or forgotten on the laptop.
Windows won't let you format large cards FAT32 but this works fine:Last edited by Bushwalker8; 22nd January 2022 at 07:13 PM.

I do not question that on the Garmin Camper RV770 it is possible to use a microSd > 32 GB.
On models with Camera it is provided by Garmin itself (read here: )
On Classic Automotive models the situation is different (read here: )

Be careful interpreting Garmin's device tables as gospel, they are a good general guide but not all accurate.
I also have handhelds GPSMap 66i and Rino 750's that like the RV770 are all listed in Garmin tables as limited to only a 32GB card.
However both the GPSMap 66i & Rino 750's continue to work fine with 64GB & 128GB cards formatted FAT32. I'm able to view any location across the 68GB of JNX topo's I have currently enabled in them, plus the overlaid vector .img maps.
Disclaimer: Note that these are only my personal examples for illustration, not general recommendations. Best for anyone to test their own device to confirm for sure but be well aware of the map configurations and the device's performance and map tile & segment limitations as you could easily exceed them if you go beserk with these size cards. I purposely created my own JNX files large, with my tools typically around 1.3GB and it keeps the count down.
