I realize this is a pretty old conversation but I just got a "smart drive 65"
Can I install maps? is there a tutorial?, previously I was using a Nuvi, installation was easy.
The file system in the "65" is different. Any help is appreciated.

There is no difference between Drivesmart file layout it is the same as any Nuvi.
I own 2 DriveSmarts and 4 Nuvi's and maps all go in the same place be it in the memory or on an SD card.

The hidden \.System folder is to be intended for internal Device Memory.
For external SD the folder must be changed in \Garmin. All subfolder remain unchanged

To make sure I understood correctly, on the sd card make a \Garmin folder; put in all files and sub-folders (JCV etc)
Do I name the map image file "gmapsupp"

More important, Is it now possible to install unlocked maps in the smart drive 65 without a unit patch ?
