Garmin BlueChart g2 extra .img files
I just bought a new GPSMap 78sc and it comes with Garmin's New Chart Guarantee.
After a month of arguing with Garmin support they finally added the 2022.0 g2 map to my express account.
When I download it there are four .img files from 1Gb->1.5Gb. Only one of the .img files shows up as a chart in Homeport.
What are the other .img files for? Are they routing information?iratepirate Reviewed by iratepirate on . Good on ya for making Garmin honour their New Chart Guarantee .
My older Charts ,East Coast Australia VPC022R for example are just 1 img file.
The later G3 versions I have seem the have 4 .img files ,the map Id's are different. I don't have a chart plotter ,but maybe they are Chart layers only available on more
Unless you are a "New" member, having used the Thanks button regularly is the quickest way to get help.

They weren't happy about it - especially when they saw I only paid AU$130 each for four of the 78Sc (also got a couple of Montana 610 for AU$205) - bargain - price error
Turns out they are the g3 maps and Garmin sells the maps alone for AU$240.
I've got a GPSMap 8610XSV + 7410XSV + panoptix livescope in my boat and the extra .img appear to be routing for auto pilot.
