Hi...speaking of old gps, I have an 11 or 12 year old Kenwood head unit that still works well, except of course for finding maps that will fit in its 2GB flash storage (no SD slot). I'd be willing to buy maps from Garmin but they don't sell maps for 2GB any more.
The largest gmapsupp that will fit is about 1.8GB. I have tried to follow map editing instructions using gmaptools, but I've managed to screw it up so it appears to work but won't calculate routes.
Anyway, this 1.94GB file is close but not quite small enough. I know I can load either the 2020.20 NW or SE files posted in another thread...in fact I have just done so...but since I live in the Midwest, neither region covers all the neighboring states I might drive to.
So I guess I'm begging for a 1.8GB file, maybe dropping Canada (and Hawaii/PR if still included) would do the job? This might be useful not just to me but others with 2GB units.
Many thanks,Last edited by SeeBuyFly; 23rd August 2019 at 08:47 AM.

Would be nice to know which Kenwood device so others could identify a solution for their units too.
This is what Garmin Express provides
Lower 49 NW 1.289Gb
Lower 49 SE 1.296Gb
If you want a custom maps set ie Mid West download the Gmap folder and copy it to C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps and create your own gmapsupp with MapSource

My unit is a DNX5120, installed in 2008.
As already noted, Garmin hasn't supported the unit (or other 2GB units without SD slot) for some years, so I don't know how one would use Garmin Express.
I have tried to use GMapTool on a file obtained through torrent, but have not succeeded in making a working map.Last edited by SeeBuyFly; 23rd August 2019 at 11:12 PM.

You came to this forum a few days ago for help, so taking your frustration out on those that offer help is maybe not the best way to get it?
Firstly I didn't say use Garmin Express ,I said the picture shows what Garmin Express map set options are available ,MidWest NOT being one of them.
In my opinion to create a custom map set for the MidWest GMapTool is not the appropriate tool but MapSource is,that's why I gave you the links to my unlocked Gmap folder for the latest North America 2020.20 so you could be independent and create map sets yourself from now on.
