OK I have downloaded the 2077 zipped file and extracted it to my sd card
The only files on it are
14.bin
127.bin
158.bin
idr.bin
update.txt
Is this correct?
I have put the card into the unit and turn it on but nothing has happened, it shows the Garmin logo and Navigon icon loader for about 5 secs and then boots as normal
There is no 154.bin file on the sd card afterwards.
Have I missed something here?
I also just noticed that my sd card is a 32gb micro I can not fond anywhere on Garmin the max size for my device, should this make a difference?
Apologies for the questions but it is my first time doing this
Thanks
Gerald

Hi Folks.
I found this forum when searching for CN NA NT 2020. I've been downloading Garmin torrents for years but this is the first time I have seen so many files in a single download (as listed in OP). I am accustomed to downloading gmapsupp.img and that's it. I have a Garmin Oregon -- maybe this is a Nuvi thing?. I have downloaded from Post #8. Do I need all that stuff these days? And what do I do with it?
I have also downloaded, from the nz site, gmapprom.img and read in another post to rename it to gmapsupp.img to get map options. Is this the path I should take?
Thanks for the info. i hope its not a stupid questions.

Apparently there are no stupid questions ,but answers can be !
I have to ask as your name and your device implies you are a avid Hiker. If you are looking for maps for the road then you have downloaded the correct map gmapprom.img ,the other files as you say are an Auto device (nuvi/Drive etc) thing, Junction views POI,Parking databases and on.
The renaming of gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img is to avoid clashes with the original map on a device.I see your Oregon has provisions for an SD card so I assume you will go that way, in that case gmapsupp.img would be advisable unless you already have another supplemental map you want to keep then use gmapsup1.img .Last edited by Garmin_Nuvi; 16th July 2019 at 12:18 PM.

Hi Garmin_Nuvi,
I am trying to update a nuvi 2699 and also get cannot unlock maps, maps are corrupt and can not be used go to Garmin to download latest maps. I have updated two other Garmin devices without any problems, so I think I understand the process of using the SD. Are you aware if a patch needed for this nuvi??
Thanks!

Hi yes , your device needs to be patched Check your HWID in your garmindevice.xml to confirm HWID 1772 or 1948 You risk bricking your device if you use the wrong firmware.
<Model><PartNumber>006-BXXXX-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>510</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nuvi 2699</Description>
nuvi 26x9 | 1772 | 880 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Strong | GVS: Yes | File: nuvi26x9_880.gcd
nuvi 26x9 C4 | 1948 | 880 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Strong | GVS: Yes | File: nuvi26x9C4_880.gcd
MSV: Strong - it verifies the validity of map signatures more complicated way, in this case you need to patch your firmware and unlock an .img using any correct unlocker
GVS: Yes - it verifies the validity of firmware signatures, you have to use Updater.exe or the easier way an SD card Kit to install the patched firmware for the first time.
When you have the HWID confirmed ask here for SD card Kit

Hi, I have confirmed HWID 1948. If you have the SD card kit that would be great! Thx!
