Any chance a img file of Scandinavia and Germany can be uploaded? I tried merging the files myself, with no success.

Hello, and thanks to all who contribute to such a useful resource!

I'm looking to revive an old Nuvi 250, but very much a novice and not quite confident about how to update without bricking the unit completely. Can a kind soul confirm or clarify what steps I need to follow, please?

I've downloaded the "UNITED KINGDOM + IRELAND NT 2019.20 Unlocked IMG" map that FireFox58 provided (#6).

Is it as straightforward as Bumper suggests? (#30) Can I simply connect the Nuvi to my computer, delete the existing "gmapprom.img" from the Garmin folder (having backed it up to a computer first), copy the new "gmapsupp.img" to the device, then rename it to "gmapprom.img"?

That's right. The Nuvi 250 connects to a PC via a USB cable and removes a file from it, such as gmapprom, which is located in the Garmin\ folder, and then copies the gmapsupp file (by FireFox58) to the same directory. You can rename the file in gmapprom, but it is not necessary. The map will still working OK. And that's that. Enjoy!

NOTE:
Make sure the file (map) you are copying in nuvi should not have a duplicate .img, such as gmapsupp.img.img or gmapprom.img.img, because in this case the map will not work.

It works perfectly, so much easier than I had persuaded myself it would be. Many thanks to FireFox58 for the work to make the map and to Bumper for coming back to report success and give me a hint!
