I've been struggling for a few days with two Nuvi 2597.

The first Nuvi plugged in Windows 10 / 64 bit could not see the Garmin.Why ? I have no idea so I could not update it ...

The second Nuvi plugged in Windows 10 / 64 bit COULD see the Garmin so I updated to the latest 8.80 Software and 5.08.11 firmware.

All was fine with the second nuvi I plugged and unplugged many times for a few days UNTIL i put a microSD with an unlocked western Europe map image with a gmapprom.img and a JCV folder with a D3090290A.JCV file

i knew i should have backup before inserting the microSD !! When I booted the Nuvi 2597 it now says : Cannot unlock maps / maps are corrupt and cannot be used.
I expected that since i had read about it I knew i was probably missing a step or two ... BUT

Now The second Nuvi plugged in Windows 10 / 64 bit CANNOT be seen by Widows or Garmin Express !!! ARGGGHHH !!! :-( It therefore won't update anymore I can still use the GPS but don't have acces to any files.

Can anyone please help I'm over my head with this one and I really needed this Nuvi 2597 badly for a trip to Europe :-(
