I have two StreetPilots, a c320 and a c520. Both of these have served me very well for many years. The 320 is like the proverbial axe - 2 new screens, 3 batteries, 2 mounts. They have good screens, readable in sunlight, and are ROBUST, and like "old" mobile phones, they do just what they are designed to do and nothing more - they navigate.

I now have a DriveAssist 51 so I can use the StreetPilots for more menial duties. Unfortunately the c520 is as useless as a paper weight - its firmware is incompatible with the recent epoch change. It boots, slowly, but doesn't have a clue what the date is, so lots of features do not work. Curiously the c320 continues to work properly.

Does anyone know if a firmware patch was made to fix this? Maybe it was not worth the trouble, but it is worthwhile to me if there is a patch. Maybe the c320 firmware will work in the 520?

btw: I did buy a Nuvi years ago - a good one with lots of features - and a nice soft rubber feel about it. The rubber feel soon turned to chewing gum and attempts to fix it were unsuccessful so into the rubbish bin it went. I would have thought Garmin engineers would know better.

It's worth a try asking so if anyone has an answer it would be very much appreciated.

If not the paper weight will make an interesting conversation starter.
