Mapsource on a new PC
I have used Garmin GPS Products for years and always used Mapsource to edit and make tracks on my PC (never liked Basecamp and prefer not to use it). I just got a newer PC and when I went to load Mapsource, I could not find the 20 character code. Lol...I have a few pieces of software from various GPS's, just cannot find the codes. The version I had on my last PC was Mapsource 6.14.1 1999-2008 which for what I use it for...works fine. I also have City Navigator NT V8. I know it's old...but is there a way to unlock it?

Search for *.ucx files on old PC! Or "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Codes" branch in RegEdit!

Use install package for MapSource 6 16 3
Link here
Run the MSmain.msi to install on PC.
There is a patch avalible so that you can send the map to any device (not only a GPS) i.e. drive C:/Garmin etc.
Could not find it right now but I have it somewhere...
