Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices
This is an universal firmware patcher for protected Garmin devices.
Many devices recently have a strong firmware protection and cannot use unlocked maps because firmware requires .gma and has MSV ( Map Signature Verification).
you will be able to check if your device firmware requires this patcher or if it just needs gingunlock+mapsigpatch or simply an .unl file or old gimgunlock.
1.Remove any gupdate.gcd in your device.
2.Set device to Mass Storage.
3.Download the patcher.
4.Download firmware gupdate.gcd Copy it in the patcher directory Note: be sure to get your device HWID firmware,
check it in garmindevice.xml
5.Open Patcher and drop the gupdate.gcd in patcher window. The patcher will provide the patched gupdate.gcd in your chosen directory.
6.Drop your patched gupdate.gcd in RGNTool and save it as .rgn.
7.Drag the .rgn in Updater.exe icon, Updater.exe will open, tick USB
8.Now plug your device to your pc and device will start and immediately, as Garmin logo appears press upper left corner to get preboot mode and make Updater.exe to see your device, at that point click OK (still holding upper left corner untill the flashing process is finished and Updater will show "Success!") Safely unplug device from pc.updater
You are done, your device is unprotected, now you can use every kind of unlocked maps (NTU too).
NOTE: to flash a firmware update in the future, just patch the new gupdate.gcd and flash it normally with Webupdater (drag&drop the file in Webupdater shortcut on desktop) or copy gupdate.gcd in the sd or in .System.
Remember to remove any previous gupdate.gcd in your device, before flashing any updates.
or i can do it just write HWID FIRMWARE and the name of the appliancevladan091 Reviewed by vladan091 on . Pre-Boot mode
1. Power OFF your Nuvi.
2. Press and keep holding the most left upper corner of the LCD screen
3. Power ON your Nuvi but DON NOT release your finger from LCD screen (keep left upper corner of the LCD screen procedure ends)
4. You will notice Nuvi boots in Pre-Boot mode. Now quickly connect your USB cable.
it's better to ask for pach and make it for you

Dear vladan,
I kindly ask for you help. It's new Edge explore. HWID 3011.
Is there any other option to upgrade the firmware? The updater.exe crashes as soon as it starts the update process. I tried it the way you descibed. Error info:

You can't use updater.exe because it doesn't support the most of sports model now. But it does not matter in your case. Express could help but there is no released version of software on Garmin servers. I had checked it directly and I can confirm this fact. Probably you have a new model and initial version was 300 that is based on APAC and Japan SW for a more older device. You need wait for a release of next version and make a request.
