How are the maps working on this new device cos i'm thinking of buying one too

any chance you could help out with a patch for nuvi 760 (yes very old favourite with extremely old map)

Nuvi 760 doesn't need any Patch, simply use Unlocked Maps.
If Device doesn't see Map it means that Names and/or position of them are wrong
I would add some informations ...
Nuvì 760 accept up to 4 Maps (only Maps and anything else) in folder \Garmin, their Names are:
gmapsupp.img, gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img, gmapoem.img

Hi guys,
So, Ive just bought myself a fenix 6 sapphire, and have obtained a unlocked copy of the Garmin City Navigator 2020 map. I've used MapInstall to generate what looks like 2 .img files on the watch, but when i switch the watch on, i get a message saying it cannot unlock maps. Am i missing something here, or is there something else i need to do? My watch is running fw version 9.
Please don't flame me btw! I'm relatively switched on tech wise, and I have read a load of forums this evening. However, garmin, maps, unlocking etc etc is all really new to me. I only got the watch on Saturday, lol :-)

Welcome to the forum,
Not all devices are able to use unlocked maps,some require patched firmware to use Unlocked maps.The Firmware Fenix6Pro_900.gcd is not being recognised by the Firmware the Patcher ,so unfortunately it looks like your device is unable to use Unlocked maps at this time.Last edited by Garmin_Nuvi; 23rd June 2020 at 05:17 AM.

Thanks. That makes sense, as I noticed someone mention on one forum that the firmware is encrypted or something?
What i'm actually looking for is a good quality map for Europe that I can use for automobile navigation mode on my Fenix. The Topo maps don't provide that function and you just get a straight bearing line to your destination, which is very frustrating.

The TopoActive maps that came pre-installed are compiled using the community-generated OpenStreetMap (OSM) database.You can use OSM to create Auto routing maps

@Firefox58 - That image works a treat on my watch, thanks. What is strange though, is this one works and is unlocked, whereby the img files I generated (from the NT 2020.30 gmap folder) didn't. Is there step I perhaps missed? Essentially I uploaded the map to my Fenix 6 with MapInstall, which converted them to the .img format.
@Garmin_Nuvi - Thanks, got your map working on my watch. Is it a routable map created via that website based in the Netherlands that you mention?
I must say, i'm used to rooting phones, re-imaging stuff etc etc, but garmin mapping is very odd haha!
