Hi Lchung
Looks like we're both looking for the same firmware patch
My device says the same.
Thought at first it was because i was trying to load a map on a 2GB MicroSD card and the device did not recognise the small card.

UPDATER RGN
A COMPLETE INSTRUCTION IS ON THE FIRST PAGE.
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install NA 2019.20 maps I found on this website on my Garmin Nuvi 765.
Device is currently running firmware V4.50
I have started by imaging my internal memory and sd card using WinImage.
I loaded new blank 32GB SD card in, formatted FAT32.
After putting everything to proper places (*.img -> SD:/Garmin, *.jcv -> SD:/Garmin/JCV), I turned device on, and maps didn't appear in configuration menu.
I guess I need to unlock my firmware according to this guide.
I have two questions though:
1) Are these changes reversible? (Return to unpatched firmware) Obviously I'm never going to send it for warranty, which has ended decade ago.
2) Can I download/update maps, for which I have purchased Lifetime Update (Central Europe) via Garmin Express, while on patched firmware?
Thank you :)
1. I think you can. When I upgraded my Garmin Smart Driver 51 using Webupdater to a newer version, it was not a patched firmware anymore. I had to do patch again to use an unlocked map.
2. Yes, from my Garmin Smart Driver 51, I can update latest version of the lifetime map using Garmin Express.
I believe, these two things should work for your case.
Replying to myself an hour later.
This might help future users with Nuvi 765.
I didn't have to patch my firmware in the end.
Problem was the file naming. I overlooked, there can be only one file named gmapprom.img (which in my case was Europe), despite one on Internal drive, other on the SD card.
Renaming the other map to gmapsup1.img made it load succesfully.
have you the patch version for astro 430?
As a kind request from @mixmusic
This is a custom SD flash kit only for HWID 2267 devices (Drive-DriveSmart40 & 50)
Instructions:
- Download the RAR file from the Link attached then extract directly to a clean microSD formatted in FAT32 (best using WinRar to extract).
- If your device has a Firmware version lower than 5.70 all is okay, otherwise a firmware downgrade is advisable
You can download an older firmware release from here:- Ensure the device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.
- "Loader" will appear on screen for some time and the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
The device can reboot itsself during the process.- After the Patch is applied the device will be able to read Unlocked Maps.
In case of flashing of a new version of the Original Firmware the Patch must be repeated- When the flash has completed remove the card, in its root will be a new file named 154.bin.
That's a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device at a later date.
You would be best to keep a copy of it somewhere safe for as long as you have the device.
