This is a Patched Firmware (JNX + Unlocked Maps) for Edge Explore ver. 4.10
Since the Edge Explore (HWID: 3011) does not have the GSV and falls into category 2
MSV: Yes, GSV: ---
In this case the Patched Firmware guarantees the correct reading of Unlocked Maps, including NTU and TOPO Maps with CP 65001.
The Patched Firmware guarantees reading of BirdEyes JNX images too.
Be sure to remove All BirdEyes images eventually present on Device before apply Patch
BirdEyes images can be restored AFTER flashing new firmware
Also, in this case the "patched" Firmware can be loaded through the normal update procedure via WebUpdater
Changes made from version 4.00 to 4.10:
- Fixed issue that battery capacity stuck at 100%.
- Fixed issue that saved locations being deleted.
- Fixed issue that Trailforks app failed to download courses.
- Removed temperature data in activity files since there is no temperature sensor support

Thank you very much. It worked.
Could you tell me how you patched it? I used firmware patcher from "whiter brinkster" site and updated normally.
I'm just curious because I thought I did it right, but my way failed.Last edited by luke1984; 21st May 2019 at 10:56 PM.

Probably the thing that makes the update work is to have forced the firmware version of one more unit (4.11 in this case). This will bypass the check that the device performs at startup

I've seen you did it. However I had version 3.0. Didn't update before because I knew that I will have to upgrade and it could be more difficult when you do 4.1 -> 4.1.
Anyway did you use the same firmware patcher I tried? Or something else?

Ok - here is the thing:
and
Both (according to publisher ) are locked to sdcard - not to device (You can move SD card from one device to another and maps work)
Try to unlock these mapsLast edited by cra3y; 25th May 2019 at 03:21 AM.

But they had to use some kind of mechanism/algorithms, supported by Garmin's devices.

They are most probably using the SD card's serial number to create their locking algorithm
