Could the first use date be found and modified to get the standad free upgrade. As I have several Toms - could I chage the unique ID or cpu number whatever. Some of these no-read chips now have defeats, and old toms are cheap at thrift.charity stalls (5-$10). Oddly, Navman batteries are always defective, but tomtom batteries seem to age gracefully. I do a swap, as people seem to throw their lifetime Navman devices away frequently.
Windows. Since Windows 10, windows has destroyed or disabled basic forensic trace tools, say to catch what flows over a bluetooth link - or USB for that matter. I suspect all this crypto nonsense evill be flawed, and the key will be something simple like the device ID and serial. If you see that going up the line then you will know.
