Yes it was without an memory card. Didn't think I need one as it has enough memory space.

I managed to restore it with TTHome, back up option. So now it's working again but with the older map
    that already was on it.

Tel me/us which Bootloader you're using now ?
Open the ttgo.bif with for example Notepad and see what is written there
If this is below 5.5022 than you need a Bootloader updat to make use of SDHC cards above 2GB, possible than is up til 32GB
From that moment on you're able to use any map from which is a meta code available

    hey

    I have problem here...

    9) Run TomTom Home on your computer and go to the "Operate" function. This may be called "Operate My TomTom" or "Operate My Go" or similar, depending on your model. Download a file if asked. You may get an error message after doing so, just ignore it. The purpose of running the Operate function in Home at this stage is to create the .dll profile needed for patching later.

when i start operate my go i get message...this functionality is not yet supported for your combination of navigation...

Anyone have idea how to solve this problem?

I did indeed come across something like that once, but I wonder what that has to do with a later patch?
Although your Windows is not compatible with TomTom Home, there is nothing to prevent a map from being patched.
In other words, you do not need TomTom Home at all.
Maybe for one thing, for a share update

OK, followed the tutorial to section 8 where things started to go wrong. ttgo.bif is not created.
on to section 9, TomTom Home won't let me "Operate the device", Its greyed-out.

TomTom Home shows that it installed version 6.560,

This is the directory listing so far:
    program, Directory.
    ttntools, Directory
    Voices. Directory.
    Files:
    Data.chk
    Install.bif
    Libaec.so
    System
    tthome.bif
    ttn
    ttsystem

and when I run Activator2019 I get 2 errors both saying they cannot find wbusy.exe.

seems like the tutorial needs updating.

That of TomTom Home is quite right, the old devices are no longer supported.
But I wonder what you wanted to do with TomTom Home.
The only thing that still works are the shared updates.

TomTom creates the ttgo.bif file itself, but I don't understand much of the list that you show, at least you certainly miss some very important parts there.
I am left with the following questions where did you get the Navcore, which version is that and which map are you trying to install?

Activator_2019 is not installed properly, I can only guess what the reason for that is, one reason may be that the system variables are slightly different than the normal ones.

Try again but first remove the Activator_2019 folder in the following places,% Temp% and% ProgramFiles%
In other words probably C: \ Program Files \ Activator_2019
    and
    C: \ Windows \ Temp \ Activator
I am not entirely sure about the latter because it could also be in the root of the C: drive itself

    I followed the #1 thread.

I formatted the 32gb sd card,
    Placed it in the device.
Installed the latest version of TomTom Home.
    opened Home.
connected the device to the computer.
    Home recognised the device.
Home opened it's update window and offered "System" and some voices.
    installed offerings.
    Restarted Home.
    No further updates available.
Unplugged device and started it on its own.
Picture of device on orange background appeared and a yellow line on a blue background appeared at the bottom of the screen, this completed across the screen.
after a few seconds it turned itself off.
Checking through explorer, I got the directory structure that I posted.
Copied the map 1030-9519 Europe and the UK map 1030-9519 to the card.
Copied Activator to the card and ran it, got the error messages.
checked the card with explorer and now I see 3 zip files also appeared, Unrar, wget, wbusy.

Now the device switches on and doesn't get past the start-up screen before switching itself off.

The Navcore should have come from TomTom according the lots of posts on this forum. and Home tells me the system is 6.560.

Not more than about 20 seconds
I understand that you want to use Europe and the UK map. if everything is where it should be, there should be no problems.
Have you paid careful attention to the fact that Navcore has ended up in the root of the internal or external memory and that
the maps have ended up there and not in a sub-folder, because then it cannot work at all.

By the way, whe you try to use a Navcore straight for the TomTom Servers, you need to patch the Navcore first too

    P.S.
Activator_2019 is now runnng normal ?

As a total noob to this I took the advice of one of the forums sages, This is what I got from BiggerDave's post on the best Navcore for my device,"In EVERY case, the “best” navcore for your device is ALWAYS the latest official/current version released for your device which is available via TTHome for free and should be totally trouble-free.". who am I to argue?

The map files are in their own individual directories and not sub-directories. I have no idea where the Navcore has ended up because I don't know what I'm looking for if anything.

Strange, another guru in another thread assured me all this was "Really simple".

It seams that some of the basic tutorials, although well meaning, need a total overhaul to bring them up-to-date.

I presume Activator is working, it was still going after an hour on the patching task and hadn't thrown any errors.
