    HI!
I have a TomTom XL and now TomTom Home says its an obsolete GPS and it cant upgrade anymore it's maps, so now i can't use the technic of simulate buying of a new map and see what map version it suggests.
With the compatible chart i didn't understand how to choose the correct map to put in my XL.
Its aplication is 9.170.734651.2 and im actually on map Europe_1GB_South_910_4952

What is the easiest way to know the best map to put in my GPS now?

    Regards!!

    Thanks.
If i understand, the correct maps for my XL are 1005.8763 / 1005.8764 / 1005.8765
I can choose any of that 3 maps and they will work right?

I also have a Renault Carminat. In that case i have to use the maps shown in dark green color right? 1005.8760 / 1005.8762

It's correct? I understand you know it all about that chart but you can understand it is a little confusing with many navcores and map versions and extras to choose the correct one to use right?

    Thanks

Depending on which XL you have I would like to suggest to use 9.510 as navcore
Do you have a XL with an SD slot, not a problem, but when you've only 1GB or 2GB you're very limited in your choice of maps
Also depending on which Bootloader in use, when you have an SD slot, a Bootloader update is maybe needed
Tell us more about your XL, please.

    If you look at

you will see which maps are available, and of those that have meta codes for them. If no meta code the map will not work anyway. If you have an SDCard slot, then you should also be looking at

as it seems that you have a really early Navcore, and an old map any way. With newer Navcores, the size of the SDCard can exceed 8GB with SDHC, prior ones only support SD. That is only applicable with the newer bootloader, and you probably have the old one so will need that upgrading too.
Regarding TT Home, you should still be able to see your map(s). Here is how you can do that, even though your unit is extinct

Hope that helps, it works for my extinct GO720 anyway, after of course you have used Fast Activate to make the patches

So we wait in antisipation on your reply @zimon
One day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

Thank you very much for the explanation. My one XL is the one without SD card. I've updated it to lastest navcore 9.510 and already installed on it latest Iberia_1005_8763 and everything is going fine.
My real doubt is in choosing the right map from that chart but for example, if i need iberia and i have my one xl at 9.510, i can search in thread finder Iberia_8763/8766/8767/8819. I see that i can use any of that maps in my one XL, but the 8763 is the best because its the most complete map. am i right choosing this map?

    Regards!

If it's the One with just only 1GB you're quite right that Iberia 1005_8763 is the best option for you at this moment
It must even be possible to add France 1005_8763 too and Benelux 1005_8819
Think smart and there is more possible, even with less memory.
