I got it. The trick is to put the map first, empty, without pois, previous mapsettings, voices, etc. Then it runs well, and we can adds your mapsettings, and, after, the pois and voices.

Just only move your mapsettings.cfg to another place on your computer.
There is a trick to use the old or former mapsettings.cfg, but than you've to connect your device first with your computer.
Once connected start TomTom Home and as far ad I remember you need an older version with the option to manage you device.
A little piece of software is needed and in the old situation TomTom's server send it to you.
Once you're able to manage your device create a route to any place you like, the best is a well known place.
Next step is to to choice for a demo route and stop that demo after a few seconds.
Now your former mapsettings.cfg will be written in the right format and all setting are still there.
All your addresses, speedcams and so on are written in that file, sometimes with luck it is compatible with the newest map.
Due to that problem when your unable to use that file, I'm used to store all my addresses into a POI file, including a small pushpin picture the see the address on the screen too.
Storing addresses is a little more work to do via the POI options, but once created it's compatible with all next map versions.
    I have an example available.

The best way to change the map:

    • Turn on your gps with the old map.
    • Make sure it works properly.
    • Copy your old map folder to a folder on your pc.
    • Copy your old map again for backup to another folder.
    • After the two backups, delete the old map from the gps.
    • Put the newly downloaded new map in the gps.
    • In the folder of the first backup put the attached file "00borrar" unzipped from the rar package.
    • That file "00borrar" will delete the unnecessary files, when you run it.
    • Run the file "00borrar" inside your backup folder, it is important that it is inside the old map folder.
    • Copy all the files that are left in your folder except the "00borrar" file.
    • Put the copied files inside the new gps map folder.
    • Your map is already configured.
    • Now you should go to your preferred page to update the ov2 that you have installed.

Very important!!! The "00borrar" file must be compressed into a .rar package to avoid risks of deleting files on the pc.

I got it. First, as you say, I put the map empty, without my mapsettings, pois, voices... Then the device runs well with the new map.
After I put my previous mapsettings in map and it runs well too. Then I adds pdis, voices...All running perfect.

I have a backup of Tomtom files in two personal computers. One in PC at home and one in notebook for traveling. This last one has been used for me while holidays a lot of times, because when time spends, Tomtom always finish crashed in the middle of a travel, coming in a reboot loop, whose only solution is changing all aplication files and to start since zero. These files are running from micro SD card, so it is easy to do, even if annoying and inopportune.

In case of boot loops through a mapsettings.cfg adopted from an old map, there is a simple trick: Connect the TT to TT-Home and carry out the point "operate my device". Create a short route and exit TT-Home. Disconnect from computer. Your TT should start now without a boot loop. In the case of the Truck-NC 9.702, the NC extension of this NC must also be installed in TT-Home. Unfortunately, TomTom doesn't do this automatically, you must do it by hand. Here is described this for NC 9,541:

For NC 9.702 you need this archive:

If you get "403 Forbidden", use a VPN or the TOR-browser to download the archive.

Why does a mapsettings give problems?

This file contains speedcam settings, route to voice in use, other features such as favorites and frequent destinations.
If while going from an old map to a new map, one of those things is forgotten or changed, the "mapsettings" file will cause problems, because when it points to an element, if it is not there, the gps restarts.

    Frequent problems:

    • You have not put all "ov2" and "bmp" files from one map to another.
    • If you have "ogg" files on the old map you also have to put them all on the new map.
    • You have moved or deleted any of the files in the "sounds" or "voices" folders.

If you change a mapsettings file from one map to another after including a route in the old map it is less possible than an error.

So the best way to make a map change is

I don't know. I always transfer completely all *.ov2/bmp from the old to the new map. Sound files are only in the "sounds" folder. So they are available to all installed maps and i can't forget to copy them after a map update. But from time to time it happens, that the TT falls into a boot loop after activating a new map. Approximately every 5th or 6th map updates i get this problem. In these cases i'm not looking for a long time, I'm starting TT-Home "operate my device" and the issue is fixed.
