750 truck query
I have a GO 750 and had many problems to find a working version of 8.398 all stopped at initial splash.
Finally installed this version released by Biggerdave and it works. Map is 885, first fix required 15 min but at the end was successful.
Only problem is with Trafic: no green line on the right side of the screen. Seems that the radio for trafic doesn't exists. Same unit with 9.401 works ok.

Tks a lot.

I think you just need to re-enter your name & password again.
Main Menu/TT Traffic (page 3)/TT Services screen. You will need to do this each time you re-insert your truck card & switch on.Please do not just post "thanks" but use the "thanks" button bottom/right or the reputation star "*" bottom/leftS i m p l e s

@Dave...Sorry for jumping on this post...I tried the go550 with Truck..It would not work right..it kept freezing. And it would not turn off at all with the on and off button....Can you confirm Dave that the Truck works fine with this model please...

Re: 750 truck query
clarify switching on / off
15 sec push switches off , but is not recommended
it really switches off the device , ( 20 to 30 sec = reset )
i found that best practice is ;
to switch on the device
switch on only with push-button , before device is connected to external power
if device has switched off during a stop , use the on-button before turning on ignition of the vehicle
to switch off device
use only the automatic way > disconnect from dock / computer / turn off ignition ( disconnect external power )
use power-button only when there is no other way
it is not must effort , you just have to get used to it
i may be wrong , but since i do it this way i have had no issues ...[so far]

Re: 750 truck query
I've not come across any problems switching on with/without power connector. Only the switching off which should be done as mentioned in my point #2 and also as previous post as others have deffo found that the 15 sec push will more likely only put it in hibernation (ie battery drain) mode

Re: 750 truck Question,,,,
did the older truck navcores had this start-up /shut-down issue too ?
i want to try earlier versions , either SE , DSA or original CAB
but before trying them all , i d better ask advice here
i think there are at least 3 or 4 older navcores that work on GO750

Re: 750 truck query
The x50's have a v9 kernel (whatever that is) hence you need the special version but you could try others anyway
PS this was created BECAUSE of this v9 kernel so I really doubt any of the older ones will work....but what do I know?

... to avoid shutting off the device each time you turn off vehicle contact-switch
buy a cheap cigarette-lighter-socked at the local store
connect it directly to the battery-circuit , so it has permanent current and use that for device
every vehicle has some unused connectors you can use , i found some in fuse-compartment
- no more switching on/off dozen times per day
- starting-engine dont drain device-battery anymore
