Navcore 9 with vehicle profile
I would love to get a navcore 9 version with vehicle profile running on my 550 to solve the power off problem.
There is a thread here
showing videos etc with info that the blue and me navcore 9 when put onto a 740 shows the vehicle profile menu.
The vehicle profile doesnt appear when put onto my 550 though.
Maybe someone with a bit of knowledge could work out how to tweak the blueandme version to give us a working navcore 9 suitable for the truck maps.
Is there a way of making my 550 think its a 740.
Hopefully that thread might inspire someone.

According to downunder35, the x50's (specifically) have a different kernal to all other devices which is why they can only run the truck map with the x50 SE 8.398 and no other known navcore.
Don't ask me why as I have no idea but I think, if you're keeping your x50, you must use this one & only navcore
Maybe, just maybe something could be done on x40's but not seen anything around

According to Downunder, 9.004 offers Truck like features but is NOT a genuine Truck Navcore. 9.004 can only use the normal data available in any map. When you start up you are offered a kind of Vehicle Profile menu (but not like the real version). But it is not a complete non-starter. Except that it can do nothing on an X50 model.
Things the 9.004 can do on earlier models:
It will try to avoid sharp turns and narrow roads if there is a suitable alternative near by.
If present in the map it will consider bus and taxi lanes if the vehicle profile is matching - does not always work as expected.
It will try to minimise turns if a long vehicle is set, that means even if there is a quick turn over it will direct you through suitable roads to get back on track.
Things that can't be done with the 9.004:
You don't get real Truck functions and you can't use the Truck map - at least not fully featured (i.e. only as a normal EU map).
Features that are important for real trucks are missing e.g. height, weight and load restrictions - so even if you have set the height profile to a high vehicle, you can still crash under the next bridge that is too low.
The bus and taxi functions are not always working, this is also because of missing data in the map.
So what is it good for?
It can be used as a fair alternative for regions which are not covered by the EU Truck map.
Even if you never get a fully working Truck set up it can and will save you a lot of stress when towing big things behind you for example.

As you say, it ain't a Truck navcore so why bother?
Either you want/need to set your dims (caravan/bus/truck etc) and the (truck) map tells you where you can and can't drive or...what? (you can always add all the HGV PoI's to any map but what a pain that is!)
Waste of time NOT having 8.398/truck 890 surely?
Truck coverage is:-
Dimensional and weight restrictions on major and interconnecting roads in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom.
Full coverage: Andora, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibralter, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City, United Kingdom (including Channel Islands).

and what would be the benefit of v9 versions ?
the only different and benefit is the 2D/3D button in task-bar
IMO 8.398 is still the fastest and best kid on the truck-block
i would recommend it also for non-truck usage

I agree, in Europe. Of course if you are somewhere else (campervan trip in USA?) Maybe it's better than nothing.
Don't know, I'll have to give it a try ..... sometime.

if i was to tow a caravan , i would still choose truck-navcore
reason ; caravan have similar problem as trucks
US map dont have truck tmeta , but NC still avoids unwanted downtown roads and sharp turns if possible
