    Help Speedcams for GO 5100

    Hello,

    Speedcams for GO 5100

I have finally decided to replace my old GO 950 with a pretty new GO 5100. Faster, better to calculate, lifetime world maps included, lifertime speedcams, lifetime traffic information...

I have finalize all things like it was in my old GO 950 except one thing : the speedcams in North America. All speedcams from Europe can be downloaded and updated through MyDrive Connect software, but not the USA-Canada speedcams

I try to ask for help to TomTom but the answer was : you can only have the speedcams from the region you bought the TomTom !!! So I have all Europe speedcams but there is no option to get the speedcams in USA-Canada, as it was possible with a GO 950. So why creating a World version with all maps with free update for life ?

Does anyone has found a solution ? Your help will be greatly appreciated as usual

I would seriously argue that point with TT. If they sell you a "WORLD" device with USA mapping then you should be entitled to "WORLD" speedcams incl USA ones too! Have a moan at them on their forum

polotdi: haven't seen you around for a while. Thanks to your advice on another site, I got myself an active dock for my TT which is the best solution for RDS-TMC

Unfortunately you won't be able to configure your new device as easily as your old one. It all has to be done through MyDrive and as you probably already know, you have no access to your device through Explorer either.

I have a GO5100. Why not unintall USA and Europe and speedcams. then install USA then speedcams. should work then maybe. Then install Europe. See what happens. Personally I would not rely on **** TT tells you. Try this way first. Maybe ok for USA OR Europe not both perhaps.

Best way is to try anyway,
    Regards Nick

Life Time Speed Camera Updates Europe
    Size: 4.5 MB

No, TT con us as none outside europe. No India or China. World wide my ***.......We should get a refund, they breach laws. Advertise World wide and lifetime. where are the speedcams outside europe? And where is India and China? Maybe better routes to hospitals in Syria......

I now have replaced the GO5100 for GO5200. with WiFi and some marginal updates, but suggest staying with your 5100 if happy with it. I would suggest getting a windscreen visor though as it cuts out the view on you car screen in dark times. Actually better most of the time. Easily found on ebay for 5" and 6" units

I have just had a thought. Not often I know. But in USA can you post speedcams as you can in Europe? Perhaps static ones incorporated when you get updates. I maybe wrong but the download Europe files are for static cams, the mobile ones are updated live, and pretty good they are too. I would not be surprised if they are not only checking cars for speed, but also checking if insured, no MOT, known for drugs etc. Technology does grow

I have a thought regarding speed cams in USA and Canade. why not use those from NYKY? save to a folder and upload via MyDrive? Should work. I do this for some other POIs I use on my GO5200, but would be the same for GO5100. I have those from castles, football pitches, rugby, specific companies not listed on the POI of TT but needed for me. Remember if you do, also add the icon. Not sure if .ogg format will work, but it may. I have not tried, but if you never try something, you will never learn

You may have noticed added a few speed cam files. Many do not have Metas as yet but they do work on those units running MyDrive, but possibly not with older ones using TT Home. I did a demo route and noticed they work on my unit. Not that I am necessarily going to actually travel over there, but they exist
