Default HELP Needed - Activating speedcams

    Hi,

    HELP Needed - Activating speedcams

[Login or Register to remove this advertisement]

Can anyone please tell me how to activate the speedcams ? I am using the latest 9.7 Truck navcore 9.701 and the latest truck map 920_5273. on my Go930

I have used older speedcams before dating back to 2011 with navcore 9.1, and they used to show up as additional POI's.
However after activating the map and the cams using fastActivate ( which indicate that they are "OK", I then re-boot the unit but cannot see the cams, either as POI's or where they should be on the map.

How can I make them show on the map or get warning of them when driving ?

    Thanks in advance

TT speedcams don't show up as POI's BUT, if you plan a route past a known speedcam & run in demo mode THEN you'll get your warning sound etc to prove it's loaded etc.

    Hi,

    Thanks biggerdave,

they do "beep" when they are on a programmed route, thanks.
Just got me confused as I was used to seeing them on the map and having to program each as a POI and set it up so you get a warning for every POI, used to be a pain in the arse , this is great , no setting up to do.

    Thanks
    Ray

If you want to configure your original speedcams, just go to main menu - Live Service or TomTom Service (depends on your navcore). There you have the option to configure speedcams.

They is one downside which you probably have realised. If they are on a bridge overlooking a motorway, they will not show up, as not on route. If you blatantly speed, you do need to use other speedcams that show up within a vacinity. They are route specific. So you have choices. 1) use ones that show as POI, 2) do not speed or 3) go so damned fast, they cannot catch you. I do not advise the latter..... I received a letter advising me, I was doing 260 in a 130 black spot, If I was caught "for any misdemeanor" i'd be fined for that plus €600 for speeding on that occasion. Needless to say I am careful now. Last summer, I got pulled in Hungary. They wanted €100 or €150 because I was speeding. I was slowing down as it happened until a prat pulled out in front of me so I passed it and got stopped
. I said sorry, I do not carry €, i'm British. Nothing else. Keeping quiet is always best policy, never offer bribe. After 5 mins they pulled a poor German in a big Audi and let me go........Moral is do not budge or kowtow to Eastern Europeans wanting a quick buck, because they will try it on.

    Hi,
The one downside I have noticed already is that if (as I normally do) program in a route and turn off the sound to avoid the (sometimes annoying) instructions, and rely on the map, it also turns off the speedcam warning bells. Using the POI's as I did before, I was able to turn off the voice instructions but still heard the warning bell for the speedcams, which was handy.

To solve this I have installed "Silent Voice".

I use the silent voice too.

But another option is, if your navcore supports this, to turn of voice guidance.

    Yes,
I have Navcore 9.701 and it has option to turn off voice guidance, once that's done it still gives speed cam warning sound.
I don't have a voice called silent voice in my voices list thou, I'll see if I can do a search and find it on the site.
