No, I said to try changing it to the downloads folder EG: C:\Users\dosibox\Downloads
The reason being, I tried some different locations and it seemed to vary a bit...but I got the best download speeds when I pointed it to the Downloads directory
I know it's weird but it's worth a try

Sorry took some time, but here the results.
As you see no problem at my side.
I must say that I have a internet connection from 300 Mb/s

Thank you for your help and your tests biggerdave, fredderf, PeterHimself, Xius27.
I just tried again with the map Europe_TRUCK v1065.10718 (high-level-u-truck) 3,9GB (Europe_TRUCK_1065_10718_tmp_0.zip) and here's what exactly happens:
The download starts at : 62,9 kb/s (yes, only 62,9 kb/s, it's poor...) :
Then continue decreasing until 3,9 kb/s :
Then continue decreasing until 0 b/s (this is really not good) :
And the download then resumes increasing to a cruising speed of 3,2 mb/s (3,2 mb/s is a very decent download speed given my connection) :
But since the download has collapsed down to 0b/s, the final file, when it is finished downloading, will be corrupted. So it's not okay.
There is a problem but I don't see where. The download should not crash down to 0 bps. The final multi GB file, if I download it completely, will be corrupted.
I changed the download folder to C:\Users\Yxxx\Downloads (look at my screenshots above) and I still have the same problem.Last edited by dosibox; 9th May 2021 at 01:39 AM.

I've never looked closely at the download speed versus the folder I'm pointing to, but I've done some testing and seen no difference.
The most significant differences have been when changing the disk of accommodation if I point to the ssd it goes a little faster in all the occasions that I have tried, I suppose it is due to the higher writing speed of the disk.
Occasionally, if the release of new maps is close in time, the TT server gives errors in the download services of ephemerides, mapshare, maps, etc ...

The reason why the download speed is very slow at the start is because TTActivator is allocating a file on your disk to download the data to. For example, if you are downloading a 4GB map, it is reserving an empty 4GB file on your disk first, which will take time depending on the speed of your hard drive. Once the reservation is complete, download speed will resume back to normal. On an SSD this is very fast, and on a traditional hard drive this is slower.
This is done to enable download acceleration by downloading 2 parts of the map at the same time to maximise download speeds.
Just because the download speed is "crashing" to 0kB/s, it doesn't mean the final file will be corrupted... Just be patient.
Seems fine for me.Last edited by master131; 16th May 2021 at 10:47 AM.

Hi there, installed on a Tomtom GO (FA) app 12.075.3065980.84 via <<Install TT package files>> then tried to patch it, isn't work, the message is "Your device has an unsupported navcore version. You must have one of the following..."
Any help?
Many thanks

As TTActivator connects directly to the TT servers for these maps then i guess it must be either them or your own ISP which is choking/restricting download speeds?
Is there a chance you could try on a different computer or use an alternative ISP perhaps?
