    Default Is 9.541 still the best Navcore for Sirf3 TomTom

    Since WRNO happened I have been using Navcore 9.541 on my TomTom ONE. This TomTom is 4N00.003, and come up in it's bif as TomTom One V2. Anyway, it has a Sirf3 GPS chip and I have flashed the GPS firmware to 3.6.0. I think the satellite fix is better. It certainly is no worse, but sometimes still seems to take a while. Now that the GPS chip is re-flashed, is it advisable to stick with 9,541, or go back to what I was using before (9.170) or 9.510 perhaps. Since I stared using 9.541 startup is quite slow, the power on screen stays for 30 seconds or so before it goes to the navigation screen, Previous Navcores were always much quicker. Alternatively, is there any way of reducing this dead time on 9.541, and what the heck is the TT doing during this time? As far as I can see, the only practical benefit of 9.541 now is that suicide works (though now I have flashed the GPS chip I seem to no loner need it).
    What Navcores are others using on these old 32 Meg RAM Sirf3 TomToms, and how are you getting on with them?

    By the way I has a short trial with computer voices but have gone back to the original as the TomTom seemed to be quite slow and speaking.

    The official NC 9.541 was never designed to work on 32MB devices, however there are specially modified 'SE' versions which has an inbuilt swap file which helps considerably, especially if you're using a fully featured map.

    So, what version of this navcore have you installed...official or SE?

    I think it is an SE version - certainly not official as I have not patched it myself.
    My bif file says:
    ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9541
    ApplicationVersion=3145439.2

    The 9541 folder is "outsourced". There is also a swap file.

    Ok, that is an SE which should be ok but if you want to try one of your older navcores, just backup your current setup and see how you go

    A NC 9.541 isn't recommended for a ONE device. Especially not for a device with SirfStar III. Too sluggish and the biggest nonsense for all devices with updated SirfStar III gps-firmware (also all Gox20/30/7000).

    Use a VPN or the Tor-browser to download this zippyshare content.
    This is a NC with WNRO-fix for ONE-devices with GL1 gps-chip. For use with your SirfStar III-device you must delete the folder "fixdate", the file "ttconv" in the folder "bin" and the files "ttn" and "suicide.dat" in the main directory. Make a backup of your ONE, delete all folders and files without your map-folders, voice-folders and your ttgo.bif and copy the extracted content of the NC-archive to your ONE.

    Thankyou for the link. I don't have VPN here, so will explore the TOR browser. What a nuisance that Zippyshare stopped us in the UK from getting easy access. I have also found Downunders navcore installer, and that seems to be able to get me 9.510 for 32MB device to try out.

    Thankyou to you all. I have downloaded 9.510, put it on an SD card and will test it on the road over the next few days. I also put 9.170 onto a different SD card so can do a comparison. Initial feelings are that 9.170 is nice and snappy, but hard to get a real feel for things just moving around the house.
    Once again, thank you.

    After a few hundred miles driving around for a bit over a week, I have tried these navcores and find that 9.170 is the fastest, especially to re-plan a route after going off-route. For some reason 9.541 seems slightly better than 9.510. 9.510 crashed on me a couple of times, though I was running TTS voice Simon at the time. I subsequently deleted TTS and it got a bit snappier, but still nothing to make me choose it over 9.541. Maybe it is just my particular sat nav.
    Today I am going right back to square one with 7.903 navcore which the tomtom came with, so just drive a few routes and see how much speed these newer 9 navcores have lost. A quick route plan without driving suggests that it is quite a bit quicker even than 9.170.
    By the way, although TTS voices do work, they sometimes are very clear and sometimes quite distorted, suggesting the poor old device is running out of processing power.
