Try to boot your device somewhere it can't get signal, and see if it loads the map.
Normally there's a problem with some devices that they freeze when they get signal, and if that's happening when you boot it, it won't get past the black screen.
If it boots, go to settings and restore the device. This worked for me on a GO 600 that had the freezing problem (desperation measure).
Oh, if it doesn't show anything on the screen after it reboots, wait about 30 seconds, put it to sleep (don't turn it off), and turn it back on. It will then let you choose the language and other settings.
If that doesn't work, restore your backup and try to install the patch this way:
1. Connect it to MCD and delete all the maps from internal memory (use the delete option or, if that doesn't work, try to install a map bigger than the internal memory and then choose to delete maps from the internal memory).
2. Reboot the device with the magic card inserted
3. Enable ADB and Root
4. Reboot device
5. Copy packages
6. Upload meta
7. Reboot device
8. Install maps and speedcams
9. Reboot device
I've done it this way in a couple of devices and had no problems.
