I did all this. I installed navcore in recovery mode, with MDC, with TomTom Business Solutions, variants 18, 20, 21 with and without patch. The problem with the sound does not disappear, but when the patch is installed, the problem with the start image also appears. The first time I installed the patch with navcore 18 in the device and everything worked correctly, then I updated navcore to 21, I reinstalled the patch and then the problems started. I installed the map of Europe in the device with MDC, also without result. It is strange that the device recovers if it is connected with MDC or TTActivator and stays that way until it is restarted.

Yes, it is strange, I am now doing tests on a nav5 with navcore 17 and I have observed that the MSTMS splash does not show while the device is connected to the pc via usb (power supply). On the other hand, if I disconnect the cable and start the device, it shows the splash of MSTMS.
Try to remove the MSTMS patch, perform a recovery and install the navcore 20 with the MSTMS 20 patch. This patch does not disappear the splash with a countdown, remember that you have to press on the screen to exit the MSTMS splash.

I uninstalled the patch, using MSTMS Nav4 - Navcore20 v1.1 or v1.2 several times and reinstalled it with all navcore variants (18, 20, 21). I installed the map of Europe with MDC. After disconnecting the device from the USB port and restarting it, the sound is lost, and if it has the patch installed, the MSTMS starter image (the one after the drums) no longer appears, the original TomTom image appears. I find that it remember certain things, even if it is reset to factory settings or I reinstalled another navcore by any method (recovery, MDC or TTBS). For example, the truck map on the card is accepted after rewriting the navcore and installing the patch, without having to do anything. I mention that it is a TomTom nav4.

If you have a truck map activated on the card for that device, as long as you have the patch active with any navcore the device will recognize the map.
The patches are better to use them with their corresponding navcore, navcore 20 for MSTMS 20, etc ...
I don't know what the loss of sound is.
You have done the process:
- Uninstall the patch.
- Recovery from black screen, three touches on/off boton, connected to mdc.
- Install navcore 20 with TBS.
- Install the MSTMS 20 patch.
- Reboot device.
