Adding swap to NAV4
Hey there everyone. Since NAV4 devices have slown down due to the 512MB RAM they have. I am thinking on adding swap. I have done a test run with add. 512mb swapfile and busybox making the file as swap and doing swapon swapfile, the device got faster but the main issue right now is how can I make the swap apply on boot? I want to remove the patch after adding the startup script to keep the device clean, thanks for your answers.

Maybe i wrong but it's not possible to put the file swap as on Nav2 ...very different system and i can not undestand why to do that ?
Nav4 are slow ? you are on wrong way ...Nav4 are fast , no slow ...swap file was used for 32mb ram, here on Nav4 no need swap or other, fast processor , there is no problem second my personal opinion.

Hey! Should be in the internalstorage/, I haven't looked there for a long time.
Who talked about NAV2? NAV4 is slow, especially with 3D buildings and can even crash while on route, that shouldn't be like that and is fixed by adding swap to at least ease the load onto the RAM, which is what mainly causes these crashes (after viewing some logs at the time of doing it).
Especially when your maps are loaded to an SD Card. Swap helps lighten the load to the RAM to prevent crashes. Also for those who don't know, NAV4 and NAV5 run Android. (GO 610 on Android 4)Last edited by biggerdave; 26th April 2022 at 01:19 AM. Reason: merge
