New A guide to patching NAV4 devices (UPDATED)

The MSTMS team are happy to offer you this brand new piece of hack, for your NAV4 TomTom device, and with a lot of fun and hours of work, we hope you'll enjoy it. This has been road-tested by numerous elite members BUT of course it comes with no guarantee and you must understand that if you use this then you do so at your own risk!

NOTE, this patch is only valid for NAV4 devices, NOT for NAV5's

Being so similar, here are photos for you to see the menu so you can see what device you have and if you can use this patch.
Photo 1 is what you can see with NAV4 or NAV5, photo 2 is what you will see only if you have NAV5
If you see in your menu the WiFi icons and available updates, it is NAV5 so DO NOT follow this process.

    HowTo patch install nav4

    Prerequisites:
    - Windows: only tested in Windows 10 so far - the script won't work in Linux, sorry!
    - an empty SD card, size 64MB minimum (yes MB, it's really small!)
    - 9GB free space on hard drive to make the backup of the TomTom
    - USB Cable, TomTom device
    - Read this manual once entirely to have a good overview of the process
Warning 1: The script uses low-level functions to write data on an SD card / TomTom, it has been successfully tested on a system with 2 hard drives but a bug may still happen so be sure to have a backup of your important personal data on an external drive BEFORE it's too late!!
    [B]Download:
if you have anterior patch and decide to install latest Navcore 22.100,
1)it is advisable to uninstall previous patches,
2)update with Mydrive Connect to Navcore 22.100 after checking that everything works well,
    3)install patch 22.100

    Basically, the steps are:
    Step 1: Create Magic SDcard
From MSTMS Package, launch "Nav4Free.bat" and choose option 1 to create the Magic SDcard

Step 2: Create a backup of your TomTom
Insert your magic SDcard in the TomTom and boot in recovery mode
Instead of seeing the usual recovery image, your device will keep on showing the TomTom boot logo and Windows will detect 4 unformatted partitions.

First, you can check if the SDMagic was correctly created with AOMEI or similar, it should contain 4 partitions:

    Then, shutdown the device:

Go to the startup menu of the device, keep the power button pressed until you see this black screen and release the power button:

Press rapidly 3 times the power button, the device will reboot and show next screen, Device is ready to be connected to PC.
If you have another image, the Magic SDcard might be wrongly created, verify that it contains 3 partitions.

When connecting the device to the PC, Windows will prompt for unformated partitions,
WARNING 2: DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT format these partitions, you will kill your device!
Click Annular / Cancel / Annular on this kind of message:

WARNING 3: if you plan to connect your device in Linux, DISABLE AUTOMOUNT, mounting the partition n°3 will result in killing the recovery partition and you'll need to restore it (included in the package!)

Now create a backup of your device using the script "Nav4Free.bat" (menu 2 or menu 5-2-1 like below), it will be stored in the Executions/FullBackups folder where you extracted the package (it takes 15 minutes to 1.5 hour depending on the device/usb cable/usb port type)
    Example of result:

Check that you have the backup:

Step 3: Enable Adb+root in the TomTom
the TomTom must be in recovery mode with sdmagic inserted, like in step 2
Using the script "Nav4Free.bat", choose menu 3. This will simply create a file in your TomTom device to activate ADB Shell as root (not Groot !)
After completion, reboot your device in normal mode, you can remove the magic sdcard.

Step 4: Upload MSTMS files and activate hack
Device in normal mode, launch the script "Nav4Free.bat", choose menu 4. This will upload the MSTMS files in your TomTom and activate the hack

After installing MSTMS patch, you can have a warning like this when connecting your device, it's normal

    Step 5: Upload meta.txt
The map/radars are automatically activated when you install them using the TTInstall_mini tool (which you will find in the Upload Folder available in post#2 below), ONLY IF you have a valid meta for the map/radar.
Put the meta.txt file in the same folder as "Nav4Free.bat", launch the script "Nav4Free.bat" and choose menu 4, it will upload the meta to your device.

NOTE : It is better to install the Maps/Radars in SD Maximum 32GB, just remove the SD card if we want to use TomTom MyDrive Connect (MDC), you will be safe from problems with MDC.

When restarting, the hack and keygen are automatically launched and if new maps are available and you have a valid meta, it will automatically activate it.

    Additional feature: Meta auto-creation
Following links will only work if you have the NAV4 connected to the PC,
You will only have metas with original maps with MyDrive Connect or when it is the original map when buying it
    - meta of original maps
    Navigate to the url
    Link URL:
Only the registered members can see the Link URLs. Please Login OR Register.
to get the meta for all legit content in your device, it's safe and recommended to share
    Navigate to the url
    Link URL:
Only the registered members can see the Link URLs. Please Login OR Register.
to see the result of the activation / meta decoded

Suggestions for further improvements etc are more than welcome here!

PLEASE do not clutter up this new thread with "thanks" or "great, it works" posts (that's what the yellow "Thanks" button is for)
