My experiences with a TomTom Via 53

What strikes me immediately is that Meta update does not work within TTActivator.
Then start by removing what new should replace, starting with the map Europe 865, probably the map when someone bought it, it is strange that the lifetime updates have never been used.

Central_and_Eastern_Europe_1065_10690 in combination with the Benelux should fit well due to the limited space, unfortunately Europe 1065 is more than 4GB, without an SD slot that will no longer work.

Started at the beginning and after cleaning installed the patch which did not cause any problems, added all speed cams automatically and restarted the device.

Obviously something went wrong, I will go through the steps to follow as described in a Guide for Dummies.
That attempt also ends in disappointment.
For example, 3 to 4 attempts will follow on a completely different computer, unfortunately with the same result, you cannot use this map on this device.

Back to the computer I started with, still updating the meta file doesn't work, so add my own meta.txt.
Everything removed again including the patch, but then transfer the meta to the device, I did not notice this, my pc indicates that the file has been transferred but the Via says that something went wrong, who should I believe.
Then add the maps and after the restart, again that annoying message, you cannot use this map and so on and so on.

Back to transferring the meta file, after 10 or so attempts both devices give their approval, and to my delight both maps can now be used.

Next step the speed cams again, same problem, PC indicates that it has been transferred, but the Via indicates an error.
Now applied the same trick as with transferring the meta file and indeed, that was the solution here too.

I should mention that during one of those attempts TTActivator suddenly disappeared from the screen.

The next part, the ZIP codes, I can click on what I want, but there is no way to get it moving or to inspire action.

Quickfix, no problem, that's a good thing.
Update meta, it still doesn't work up to now, unknown error keeps showing up there.

I'll just leave it at this, then without the ZIP codes or the old ones I may assume, but where the hell does that Meta update error message come from?

Maybe there are more members here getting the same error?
I am using the latest Windows 10 insider version 20H2

via 53 i think that it´s nav 5, if i don´t wronged

53 was in the black screen as I remember the first two were BH
But the real owner is quite satisfied

The original Europe version was 865, from 2009 ?

I could't find the right page on the internet.
But beside that renewing the meta.txt within TTActivator is still impossible
I'm wondering is it only me or have more members the same problems.
the same as moving the meta.txt to the device
My computer shows that the file transferred successfully, while the device indicates an error
I'm quite sure the device was right, it was impossible to use these maps on that device.
But as soon both didn't show me an error, both maps were available.
It could be something with the USB, but on 2 different computers, I've my doubts

For me update meta.txt is ok with TTActivator



Moving meta.txt to the decive is normal this

I don't have the device here anymore, but I'm quite sure the Europe map was version 865, as I'm right 40 updates back
