Press the on / off button until you see the black screen with white letters.

OK, sorry to revive this thread but I am finally working on this project again. I cannot access this black screen. I have tried turning the head unit on and off, plugging and unplugging the nav unit, plugging and unplugging the cable tot the nav unit. I assume i need to somehow get it back to the TOM TOM boot menu, any suggestions?

I think what Xius27 means is "with the device switched off, press & hold down the on/off button until you see...." rather than just a momentary press?

Maybe its possible, your Device is a InDash Device? Than you have an SD-Card, where your Map is installed? I Found this in Help.tomtom

the Map is also for XNV

Do you have a SD-Card? The oldest original Map is v.980. Map is the same like old Android-App with known Device ID for every Countrys. But we don´t know how can patch your Navcore

Maybe one possibility: If the update is done via SD card or USB stick, please share the data with a trusted Mod like @Biggerdave, because it contains your specific device data. He could forward it to our Super Cracks, maybe they want and can help if they have time

OK, I was able to figure out if i held the reset button it would restart the nav module, I was not able however to successfully trigger a black screen. Would the head unit power have anything to do with triggering this screen?

It does not have a SD card, at one point in time I was able to update via a USB mini to USB A cord attached to my computer.
