I could really do with a little kind help if anyone has a spare minute or two please? I'm in my early sixties now and have terrible brain fogs and suspect I have early onset dementia..so my brain just isn't as capable as it once was sadly. At one time none of this would have caused me any problems but getting old sucks.

I was discretely pointed to these forums from a kind chap on pocketgpsworld where I've paid for years for annual speedcam updates (ov2 files). I've had a TomTom OneXL IQ Routes for several years now and have even changed the battery twice. My brain cannot cope with change and I desperately do not want to have to upgrade to a newer TomTom model of which I've read so many bad reviews. My TomTom has 'Western Europe Maps' installed and it's all I need.

I've spent quite some time reading through these forums but it's just information overload to be honest. Can I just initially ask the simple question....will it be possible for me to update my mapping? (probably 5 years out of date now). I was/am quite happy to pay for new maps but as you'll all know my model is past the possibility of TomTom official updates, and they just want to flog me a new one, which I'm adamant I don't want.

Through TomTom Home I think I can see that I have NavCore 9.541 ?? (Pasted from TTHome - Installed Items = program/Navigator 9.541,)

Any pointers would very much be appreciated, thanks

Firstly - apologies to the moderators/admin team...... as we are going around in complete circles with missing threads/posts (PMs).... I'd like to just post this here again and just let it run, please? All I need from someone is a working/live link to where I can download Fastactive which is mentioned as the tools I require to install maps. I've trolled what feels like the entire internet and it appears it's a really old piece of software, which my be discontinued? If this is the case what else might I use instead please? Many thanks.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply to my bumblings!! I genuinely appreciate it. I downloaded TT Activator 1.15, and now have UK and ROI 1045.10001 successfully installed into my XL. I realise that even this is not the very latest mapping for that region, but just can't find any live links on here for later versions. I guess this will do....certainly better than my 5 year old version!!

Yes, I did have a look around TTActivator and noticed quite a lot of other sophisticated stuff on other tabs on there. To be totally honest, and more through absolute relief that I hadn't bricked my beloved TT, I chose not to f-about!!

Would you mind if I just asked a couple of further questions...?

1) On the 'Map Downloader' tab, it defaults to arm9-mnt - and map version 1060 - as this therefore the correct type and latest map for my TT XL IQ Routes with Navcore 9.541 ? I suspect it is.

2) On the 'Safety Cam Downloader' tab - are these up to date speedcam locations like I've been paying for years to PocketGPS to download? For free through this??

I really can't believe that I've sat there struggling for years with old maps because TT wouldn't update my old nav, and this kind of resource has been here all along thanks to the ingenuity and kindness of folk. Wow!!

thanks azzab - is there anywhere I can read up on all these different types of mapping etc? I do like to have a fiddle once I know what I'm looking at!!
