Cheers biggerdave - I've been having a mess around and downloading various later maps.... pretty much all of them advise - no META file available - this is beyond me, so I just reverted back to the latest one I had which works - 1045.10001 UK and ROI - from that reference might you be able to give me an idea just how old that map is please?

v1060 (currently THE latest) all have metas ((kinda unlocking keys) which all the tools need in order to enable/activate the map on you device and most tools have an "update meta" button for this. Also you/the tool needs to patch the navcore (operating system) so it can read pirated/activated maps. More reading for you;-

Well, I've now fully updated to 1060.10557, speedcams, couple of voices, GPS fix, postcodes...... it'll be good to drive around a little less frustrated. Now I know how to do this I'll keep checking back and update as necessary. How often does TomToms's own speedcam database update?

Finally, thanks to all for your great help. It's just a real shame that there's no way to properly plot a complex route or import a GPX /KML file other than by updating to a newer TomTom and using MyDrive. Can't have it all I suppose! Thanks again!!

This is where I get boring; NOW DO A FULL WINDOWS BACKUP (copy/paste from your device to your PC) and don't trust or believe TTHomes version of "backup"

@azzab recommends map high-level-u, but these maps have files that your ONE will not use.Best option is high-level-c-automotive

I always do, in fact I never allow TT Home to do a backup - I just copy the entire root folder/device into a partition on my PC at every change.

It is true that with a genuine map subscription you will get the green map instead of the brown one.

    Why put the brown one?

Your GPS does not have the means to use cspeech files, they are useless files that take up space and memory resources.

What do you lose if you put a brown map?
It only loses the HNR feature, in Spain that option is quite useless so in the Spanish forums we prefer to put the brown map because it is a lighter map.
    My friend Xius27 is Spanish.

HNR is a feature, which as I understand it is used in Greece and Russia mainly
