Default Frozen screen on Tomtom Go 520/720/920

I have a Tomtom Go 920 which has stuck on the "I Agree" screen and won't go any further. I've tried re-setting and deleting all the info and starting from scratch again but no success. On looking at Online selling websites this seems to be a common fault with these models as there are loads for sale with the same problem. Has anybody had this problem and managed to resolve it. It just seems to have happened without any updating of maps etc. Looking for some help as I like this model of Tomtom.

I also found this one somewhere:
"Perform a soft reset on the device which should unstick it. Press and hold the power button till the sound of a drum roll is heard which should take about 30 seconds.
Release the power button and the device is reset.
If that does not work then fully charge the battery and remove an SD card if one was installed.
Press the power button and keep it pressed till the device powers on again which should take about 15-20 seconds.
Now reinsert the SD card and take the device outdoors so it can acquire satellite signals.
The device should have an unobstructed view of the sky. It should be good to go in about 20 seconds."

If you search in Google with "Frozen screen on Tomtom Go 920", you get a lot of hits an maybe answers.

Thanks for your suggestions. I had tried all or most of the suggestions on Google with no success and hadn't thought about flashing.

However I had an old Go 520 which had problems and I swapped the screens and it is now working ok. It sounds like something must have damaged the screen but it isn't obvious what made this happen.

    Up and running again.

Sometimes it's as simple as running a thin card under the bezel all the way round the screen to remove any invisible dust (and always remove any screen protector too)
