    Default Renault Megane Carminat Navcore 8843

    Hello, I've read through and tried a bunch of tutorials/tools trying to get Southern African maps (Some don't have meta codes so I've tried the Africa maps too) and I either get infinite boot loading screen or "You cannot use these maps...". I have tried to installusing FastActivator and TTActivator. I have also looked and made sure I am downloaded the correct map versions for my device. The Navcore is already updated to 8843 and I've tried patching it with Navcore version 8843 found on here and other forums/websites.

    Car: Renault Megane III
    DeviceName=Carminat TomTom
    DeviceUniqueID=AK*******6
    ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8843

    Has anyone successfully loaded Southern African maps on the TomTom Carminat? And if so, how did you do it and what maps were used?

    I tired the maps you sent but they still don't work. Same message of "You cannot use these maps...".

    Let me run through the process that I used(I've tried variations) so we on the same page.

    I take my SD card and format it. I insert it into my carminat system and then put it my PC to get original maps and Navcore update. By default, the Navcore is 8834, as found in the loopback.ex3 file. I then delete the maps located on the SD card, namely Southern_Africa and then copy the new maps over (I tried with the Africa 1040_9803 and also with the 'auto mode' on TTActivator).

    I then activate the Meta of the maps and insert back into car to get the "You cannot use these maps..." message.

    I do all the above again after a clean format and add the 'ttsystem' and 'PNDNavigator' files onto the SD card and use the patch feature.(I've tried with FastActivator/TTActivator). When I patch the Navcore, I then get the reboot loop error/bug.

    The Navcore update I use to patch it is: navcore_8843.3130258.Carminat_TomTom located

    .

    I have also tried

    solution with no avail. (Sorry for using outside forum link).

    As stated above, I have tried other variations of this as well as seeing that speed cameras can cause the system to crash and restart but the Africa/Southern Africa maps don't have speed cameras in the map folder.

    This is a special case.
    Changing the version in the ttgo.bif file does not seem logical to me.
    If indeed everything is patched and you also see the dct files in the folder you would expect it to work.
    Now it is a coincidence that I am trying to make a Truck version here, which sometimes does not work without changing it and then suddenly does not work again, but simply crashes inexplicably.

    With great pleasure I would like to make something for you here, if you send me your ttgo.bif file, possibly it will work, at least everything has been tried to bring it to a successful conclusion, you will certainly not be the first one where it works.
    Let me know if you also want another map too

    Thank you. It is much appreciated. Ill give it a shot and let you know. I'm sadly still using Southern Africa-204 which is why I really want to update it.

    Does it matter whether I use TTActivator or FastAcvtivate? I would assume not but will probably just end up trying both.

    No it doesn't matter.
    By the way there are a lot more tools to patch things you want.
    But what you now call are more user-friendly

    I tired all of them to no avail. I did get a different screen on my carinmat though. Yellow with hourglass instead of just black with hourglass but still in a boot loop. I'm starting to think I'm doing something wrong if all of them do the same thing.

    My Steps:

    1) I delete current maps on original working SD card and copy over new maps folder with just the map folder(contents directly inside).

    2) I copy over the Navcore ~tsystem(renaming to ttsystem) and PNDNavigator from within the .cad folder (in the IA0000700006swlimage0 zip).

    3) I copy the ttgo.bif file over that has:

    DeviceName=Carminat TomTom
    DeviceUniqueID=**********
    ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8843

    4) Copy FastActivate/TTActivator over and run it selecting patch Navcore and then patch Maps (have tried all steps in order and out of order too), all being successful.

    5) Insert SD card into carminat and get bootloop.

    Note: If I don't patch navcore, I get the cannot use maps issue.

    Thank you for your assistance. I do appreciate it.

    I've my doubts about point 2
    As I understand you're using parts from another navcore ?
    But when these parts are not patched, you'll have a problem.
    I know nothing about Carminat, but when you follow the next 7 easy steps ..................

    7 simple steps to update your device with the latest map
    2nd September 2011, 10:20
    To update your device with the latest map, follow these simple steps:

    1) VERY IMPORTANT: Connect your device to your computer via USB. Using Windows Explorer, open your TomTom drive and backup the complete contents of your TomTom.

    2) Check your navcore version. You can do this either on the device menu under Version Info, or you can check the navcore version in TomTom Home when the device is connected to your computer, or by opening the ttgo.bif file with notepad.

    3) Check which map is compatible with your navcore using the latest compatibility

    4) Delete the old map folder.

    5) Go to the vxxx Map Thread Finder: Map Thread Finder - Tomtom vxxx Maps
    Extract the map using WinRaR or similar. Copy across the new map folder into the root of the device. Make sure when you open the map folder it only contains the map files, not another folder within a folder.

    6) Download the latest version of FastActivate from the FastActivate thread:
    Extract the file and copy across FastActivate.exe to the TomTom drive (the root of the device).

    7) Run FastActivate.exe from the TomTom drive, clicking on the first 3 options in order, waiting for each to complete:
    Update meta, patch maps, patch navcore.

    I'm not sure if it worked, but I used the TTActivator, and inserted it and got the bootloop again, then when I tried to restore from a backup on Home(Which I've done before) it asked to update the device which I did. Inserting it into the carminat produced an update and it seemed to work. When I try switch over to Africa maps, however, it displays that the maps cannot be used again but the actual map on the device shows most of Africa? So I'm not sure what happened or if its working at all.

    Ill try later today and see whats happening.
